Cycling helmet...to buy or not to buy!

What happened to cause you to hit a tree and at what speed? Sounds like a nasty incident.

went over jump a wee bit fast, overshot the landing, suspension fully compressed and i bounced up headfirst into a tree ~20mph (don't normally do jumps, and won't be from here on either

)

don't mind much about it but the helmet undoubtedly did its job and prevented a more serious brain injury than concussion that i have atm.

Glad to hear you're holding up okay. There's a big difference between that kind of riding and road riding - I'd always advocate a helmet when doing that kind of riding.

Think about all the people that get punched once, fall over and hit their head on the floor and end up brain damaged or dead.

That's why I always wear a helmet when I'm walking around, or going up or down stairs.

I do wear a helmet whilst cycling but it's not as clear cut as people like to make out.

Haha what I meant was that it doesn't necessarily take a massive fall or crash to do some serious damage
