Cyclists on Canal footpaths :|

And then we get to comments like this, cloaked in humour. Sounds like you've created a whole narrative about who all cyclists are, which is weird. Then you joke about retribution for their mere existence, weird.

Jeez, we're all just people either trying to get somewhere or out enjoying the world in our own way.

People are strange man.

Creating a whole narrative about who cyclists* are is exactly what I did - it was intentional. Let me expand further:

It's not what I think, hence why I clarified it was sarcasm in the follow up post, and was presenting as the caricature of the person you think you are replying to.

I guess now that I have taken the effort to explain that you, an apology would be welcome, but not expected.

* Suggesting cyclists are all the same is the bloody point of my post. It's how people, like the OP sees them in general, as a 'certain' type of person. As if that's all there is too them. There's no naunce. No thinking about the other point of view. It's one of the reasons I asked to be blocked from GD over a year ago, because every single thread is a fight of 'goodies Vs baddies'.
Everyone has a right to use that tow path, and in an ideal world everyone (and their dog ;) ) will extend every courtesy to whomever they come across - but that isn't the world live in, it's full of ***** that ruin it for everyone else, and they come in all flavours.

Without a post to nudge you into further explanation would it have come or would the post have sat there, as is?

It doesn't come across as parody or whatever angle you're trying to sell here. It came across as screw them, ruin their day, damage their property, fein sympathy, their wives are probably cheating on them anyway. I mean, that's what the post says and is rounded off by saying that's why the pandemic was great because you didn't have to deal with people.

Now people are supposed to be psychic and realise 'it's a character bro, where's my apology?'

You put it out there, all I did was call it out as I've also done here.

Ok, it was all some kind of meta 'joke', cool.

Unfortunately the bit I do agree on is there's a lot intolerant ***** in the world who think they're the star of the show and have forgotten how to live in a civilized society. Things were nicer when people were nicer. We make a choice every day, and every moment on what energy we put out into the world. It's up to us to do better.

There was a ;)

Followed by a ridiculous totally made up scenario that would be impossible to know if it happened or not. It's the sort of thing made up when you fantasise about what it would be like to be a person that hates cyclists so much would think.
Parody is subtle and straddles the line of believable and ridiculous with a level of exaggeration, which my post clearly had.

It shouldn't have needed more explanation, maybe I could have added an image of Ronnie Pickering.

I'll be more careful next time and sanatise my mind before posting.

I took up cycling to work last month and my route time is cut in half if I use the canal paths. Maybe spend about 20 mins on them each way. Maybe the ones in my area of Birmingham aren't as congested as others but if I see 5 people on them on any given day it'd be a lot.

Regardless, so long as you slow down and ring your bell I don't see what the issue is? It's less effort for anyone walking to just step to one side then it is for me to slow down on an incline, especially if they're wearing headphones and I have to stop and speak up to make them aware.

Pedestrians walking dead center of the path isn't helping either.
Constantly get this when running. People meandering around in the middle of the pavement. Just stick to a side!

If the dog is called Mutley, then defintely.

Ah the tubeless tyres. See, those are the worst cyclists, they know that everyone hates them so they come prepared.

I've been away from GD for a while, but do people still not get sarcasm here? Is it still all serious business?
Cyclists are too busy being unfairly persecuted to have time for humour.

There is two types of cycling i enjoy

Road cycling, concentrating on fast riding, lots of miles, not so much hills

Cycling through parks and by canals/water, weaving in and out of people (and eyeing up sexy ladies)

when your on a bike, you generally get to see more of these in a shorter space of time (rather than walking), the only downside is when your on a bike, you pass them a lot quicker, so its less likely that they will be able to interact with you

Get yourself some bike stabilisers, so you can stay upright at snails pace. ;)

need to know how to tracks stand as said earlier
