 I thought Q plates were for imports, kit cars and that sort of thing.
Kit cars yes, or cars that have been written off and re-built using a doner car etc.

Imports don't, they are put on the plate issued on the year of registration. ie. my 98 import is on an R plate

Off topic a little but funny story with the numberlpate.

Bought if for £250 years ago as my names RHODRI.

Anyhow I had a couple of emails early on by a company on behalf of a Rhodri wanting to purchase the plate. Anyhow five years later and a couple of other famous Welsh Rhodris and ... http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/main/searchs/searchresults.asp

:o :P :)

 Sorry, I think I must be having an exceptionally thick moment here.

Why would anyone pay that much for a mark that doesn't actually spell anything (to my eyes)? Sure I can see the RHODR (with careful placing of the mounting screw) but it still doesn't help.

Waste of money at that price, though the £250 is fair enough I guess.

I like that, but i would much prefer the 10k i could make by selling the plate privately! :D well if someone approached you that is!

Looks stupid, you should be trying to hide the fact your car was made in the Czech Republic!
At least it proves its not made in France, and thus not likely to start falling apart at any moment! :)

I thought the £30 fine was for not displaying a mark. Displaying one incorrectly has a maximum fine of £1000.

Which is why I dont bother with a plate on the front. Rather that than a small plate that will land me with a larger fine.

/goes to price up a Jap plate for the rex......

To be a little bit different.

The Vdub boys started this ages ago, to make their cars look more 'euro' when modding them. Slowly other owners clubs and marques have caught on to this trend and it's becoming more and more popular.

On the Renault Sports Club we had a discussion about it and some of the resident feds said they personally wouldn't pull them, but at the same time if the car got nicked, they wouldn't be able to trace the car since the ANPR cameras wouldn't find it. So, it's a double edged blade if you use them as road plates.

You're more likely to be pulled in general, you're 'invisible' to ANPR and SPECs cameras in the short term (till they get a human operator to verify the plate) but they do look cool. Up to you. ;)

When i bought my rado i got some german plates with the car, the owner before last had them made up.

Hopefully the image will work.

Problem is they have red lettering. Anyone know what sort of trouble you could get into IF you used these??

I like them, a mate of mine recently got german plates with the hexagon things and cool font on his E30, looks good especially on the older models.
