D7000 or D5200?

Yeah, both on af. Only tried quick this morning as I borrowed the d7000 to have a play before buying. Chucked that 18-135 on as mate wanted his lens back. Will have another go, would be great if it all worked as I wanted.
 
18-135 will work fine on a D7000 or D5200, it will operate on a D600 in crop mode by default, you can override this to run in FF mode but you will not get the whole sennsor covered.
 
mm I was trying to decide between these 2 - but surely the D5200 is a better bet ?

apart from the focus motor, and the not so good viewfinder (not PentaPrism) - you're getting the same (and possibly improved) focus system of the D7000, new sensor, and very importantly - one of the best DSLRs for video currently

the quality of the video output from D7000 put me off

D5200 video output has been very well reviewed on video websites like EOSHD. No moire and video quality near to a Canon 1DMKIII or GH3 - all for £500

have to say I was very temped with a D7000 - build quality would be nice

that said - also makes it heavier

the thing I would really miss on the D5200 is the PentaPrism viewfinder, all my past (recent) DSLRs have had PentaPrisms

how you getting on with the D7000 ?

I (stupidly) sold my S5 Pro and bought a NEX 5n (similar sensor to the D7000 I believe ?) a while back - mainly for travelling to Australia - and before I went the NEX 5n seemed to resolve more detail and better colours than the S5 Pro - BUT the more I've used it - the more I find the focussing a right pain - I get so many focus misses of my kids - it drives me insane

the keepers I get - are great - but I get so many misses :( even using manual focus and focus peaking

I personally think the current price of the D7000 and D5200 are both bargains.

I'd like to stretch to a D7100 - but at almost double the price - I just can't justify it for my usage. I'd rather buy a D5200 or D7000 and put rest towards one of the new pro. Dell 27 inch IPS monitors
