As the title says, I'm sure there are 100's of members who love their cheap, economical beast of a car. So post up your pics.

"If you’re on a tight budget and want a brand new SUV, then the Dacia Duster could well be the car for you."

The main dealer already have a dodgy rep and being a rip off, but I'm limited to local garages.

I have to have a first year service on my car, it needs an oil filter change, oil and some sort of pollen filter? To make sure the warranty is fine.

But they said on the phone anything else needed they’ll phone and tell me, I just don’t trust them. Because they said they’ll make a decision on the day if the “Pollen” filter needs to be change and will be a fixed price. I just don’t trust them.

I have a Dacia duster, any suggestions (other than sell the car, get a refund, never bought one in the beginning)?

I'm not exactly sure what you don't trust are you worried they're going to do £xxx worth of work without asking and then just bill you for it? or are you worried they're just going to do nothing and hand it back with a bill?

I'd be more concerned with Back Street Motors over a main dealer.

First service? and your worried? LOL! what the hell could go wrong? heck, get the pollen filter changed along with the other filters, its inexpensive.

If you want to keep your warranty then that's your only option.

It's a popular myth (popular with main dealers I suspect), but it isn't correct.

As long as the indy uses OEM parts, and documents such (including grade of oil etc) on a detailed invoice, then you're fine.

The only thing you need to keep the warranty is the service I would have thought. Consumables not being replaced if you feel they don't need doing shouldn't effect it and anything else should be covered by the warranty.

I think you're being a little paranoid.

If you hate being ripped off why did you buy a brand new car :p

Seriously thjough its a standard first service, don't most dealers have a fixed price for a service? Even if the pollen filter is dirty and needs replacing that'll be what £20??

Don't buy a new car in future then you can do it yourself for £30 and a hour of your time ;)

People saying "not to buy a new car if you don't want to pay for warrant".... You know I bought a Dacia Duster right? Like the cheapest possible new car you can possibly buy!

If that doesn't tell you I'm tight then god help you.

Its £149 for a poxy oil change and oil filter change.... JOKE! I've rung around a few deals, more or less the same price

Sounds about right for a modern car, especially if you are using dealer parts.

A good proportion of that will be the stupidly expensive modern oil, you cant get away with just sticking Woolies 20W-50 in them any more you know :p

You can, most mega expensive OEM rated modern oil is at best a marketing exercise. At worst a bare faced lie that it's anything better than standard Castrol/Shell of the correct grade/spec.

Go to a different Dacia dealer and get a price also.

Are you sure you need oil/filter, I thought first year service for all Dacia/Renault were just a general check up and pollen filter change (or is that just the newer models?).

As a guide, I have a '15 plate Clio and my 1st service cost was £69.99 which included the above check and pollen filter change.

From the quickest of looks online it looks like you'll have lost about 4 grand in depreciation in the last 12 months. Doesn't matter what car you buy new it's always a losing game.

How about this... inspect your oil and filter and see if they do need a change.... If they dont, you dont have to worry about a 'huge' bill. If they do, then pay it cos it needs doing and I presume that in your tightness you care about preserving the warranty.
