Dad's had a prang

I reckon you should contact the police as your dad didn't get his details then contact your indurers and explain everything that happend.
Damage doesn't look too bad from the pictures but I'd be more concerned as to what has been damaged underneath (chassis etc)

Depending if the other party claim or not I would be tempted to fix that myself (if the structure isn't damaged) depending how my insurance premium is effected. You have a very common car in a very common colour. You should easily be able to find spares from a scrappy :).

Difficult to tell from the pics, but the me it looks like the bonnet is just out of place because the headlight is out of place... The bumper looks salvageable, and judging by the panel gap in the picture, the wing is pushed back which could be the reason the passenger door won't open...

If it's just a headlight and a wing plus labour, you should be fine... :o)

bonnet looks fine.
bumper looks repairable

probably needs a wing and a headlight. No more than £400 to fix..

bumper is far from repairable, worse than looks in photos, cracks in it and all sorts.

The person called us today, very rude on the phone wants us to pay, don't go through insurance etc. obviously someone with no insurance, went with my dad to see were this person was parked, right at the end of a blind corner. no way would you park there doing anything *normal*

Insurance all aware, inluding them hastling us on the phone, collect the car on Monday. Thankfully they have car hire included. Did a quick insurance check, think I selected the right thing and the premiums go up bearly any if any at all. They have protected no clams. Churchill seem to love our postcode and are durt cheap compared to anyone else anyway.

Again thanks for everyone's input.

you pay for it, you might as well use it :p

certainly if the other party is being aggressive. not worth faffing about paying it out of your own pocket.
with your father's experience, i doubt the premium will be all that expensive next time.

Hi all,

Just to let you know, car will be repaired by the 23rd, nothing structural done.

So he's now got a week driving around in a small peugeot 107, little bit different to his focus :-D

The other car involved has also now passed details, so that should be all sorted, and much more polite on the phone.

Hi peeps, just to close this of.

Dad got his car back today, and they have done a sterling job, its perfect. (makes a change from some of the horror stories you hear about repair garages) Their premiums are the same, although adding him to mine now raises mine.

Big praise also to churchill the insurance company. Everything was very smooth, they did everything for you, the hire car company were great, picking you up etc. Same to the repair again, delivering the car and doing a great job.

Churchill are always the cheapest for us anyway, but with the service we wouldn't mind paying a small premium for now anyway if it happened!

Merry christmas all

Glad you got it all sorted. I always find Direct Line the best for me, and many others who live in my post code area and Churchill quite a bit more expensive, I wonder if there is any pattern to it all. Certain companies apparently giving better deals in some areas while others do so in different areas.

Do us all a favour though would you, check your spelling before posting in the future, some of the mistakes you made are shockingly bad; "durt" ..."rit" ..and then the typos, "fire car company", "juvious" etc.

I Have to agree, Direct Line sorted out our claim in a very efficient manner, phoned up after my mum had the accident and they came and collected it the same day.

The bodyshop who did the work however were absolutely beyond awful, but that's not DL's fault I suppose..

Glad it worked out well, just wish my claim with Churchill this year went like that (here, here, and here) It took me over three and a half months and about £20 in phone calls to get my car back right, and that included 3 bodyshops, unaligned panels, unaligned wheels making it pull badly to the right, crap paintwork resulting in my car being half red and half pink for about 6 weeks, and various other issues. To give you an idea of how bad it was, the original claim was or just over £4000 and final bodyshop had to spend another £3000 put get it right :mad:

In the end it all got sorted and managed to get a complete respray out of them as well as a few other perks, but Churchill were **** and I'm no longer with them for my insurance.
