Rumours going around on Twitter that he has resigned or been sacked. Only rumours t the moment.

Hope he stays as I thought he did a quality job this season! :)
 
Apparently it's rumours going around Boston which has lead to this.

Not sure what to make of it.

Maybe FSG are going to appoint Martinez as the rumours have been saying.
 
Anybody else would have been sacked already so it wouldn't surprise me if they bin him off, 8th isn't good enough. If he had won the FA cup then he would have been safe as a double would have made up for such a poor finishing season.

I can't quite decide which is the bigger rebuilding job. Villa have WAY too high a wage bill and it needs to come down by 20mil before he can start building, however a lot of the big wage players have left, or are leaving this year making it a somewhat easier job to get rid of them, IE don't have to do anything. if they can move 2-3 more on and bring in the right players they'll suddenly look ok financially.

Liverpool, they are spending way too much in wages also, no where near as much(percentage wise) over what they can afford as Villa are but enough to make bringing in new better players on big wages very difficult. The difference is Liverpool have just bought a bunch of people on big wages, the types of players they won't be able to offload easily as the players will not get the same wage offers elsewhere.

Downing, Adam, Carroll, Henderson, even if you tried to sell them at bargain prices the players won't give up the wages.

At this point neither is particularly attractive to a manager, LIverpool with a team that is overpriced, overpaid and isn't capable of top four with fans that will demand your sacking if you don't challenge for it, and Villa, ****, turgid and a couple years away from being decent(with the right bargain signings), and the wrong couple signings and they'll be fighting for relegation again and fans that will demand pushing for top 8 again even without the resources to achieve it. Though I think Villa fans will be much more forgiving of a slightly lower league position as long as they play actual football rather than the **** they've put up with this year.


Martinez would be better off staying at Wigan, you can't fail at Wigan, stay up, and he's keeping up a team against teams spending 50-100% more on wages, go down, and he hasn't had the money to compete, win win for him. He can really only damage his reputation at Liverpool and Villa is a very tough job.

Dalglish has to go and Liverpool fans will only give a BIG name any support at all, from the view of the rest of the top 8, Dalglish has to stay ;)

Hope he stays. He's been my comedian for this season and look forward to what he has in store next season.
