Dalglish resigned/sacked?

IMO we desperately need another Alonso. Even though he could sometimes be a sod and do his own thing, I think we are missing a flair player in midfield to support our forwards.
Of all the things to say about Alonso as a player, him being an occasional selfish sod is probably the last on my list.

Ian Ayre had a pop at Dave Whelan in this mornings papers, calling him the biggest comedian in the North West because of his comments and claims he was making in interviews on SSN. Whelan's responded by claiming he was misinterpreted by Sky, the BBC, ESPN and whoever else he spoke to, when he told them that Martinez was offered the job :o

Liverpool echo/F365 said:
"Our aim from the outset was to conduct a proper, thorough, search and do it in the proper manner," Ayre told the Liverpool Echo.

"From our point of view, we did all the right things. We approached the clubs we needed to approach, and conducted ourselves properly at all times.

"It is disappointing, then, that Dave Whelan felt the need to run the kind of sideshow he conducted via Sky Sports News and various other media outlets.

"To be honest, I always thought John Bishop was the biggest comedian in the north west but Dave Whelan seems to have taken that mantle over the last couple of weeks."

think this thread has abut run it's course and is turning a bit generic, will give it a couple more days then close it

UC seats are definitely the best.

Dont stand at the back in the lower annie road end. Cant see the crossbar the mesi is that low haha.

If Rodgers past is anything the go by, we will be back to the pass and move game. He trains his teams to always have 7 lines of play and at least 3 players to pass to all the time. Will be fun to watch.

I have 3 ST's and they will all be getting passed on this season, just like the past 3 seasons. £800 a year for what! Lets hope Rodgers brings the flair back so that the atmosphere is just like it used to be.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez claims he turned down the Liverpool job because of his "unique" chairman.

The Spaniard was heavily linked with the vacant manager's role at Anfield this summer before the job eventually went to Brendan Rodgers.

The 39-year-old boss also reportedly turned down Aston Villa last year, opting to sign a new three-year deal with the Latics instead.

And Martinez has explained that the chief reason for his decision is the persuasive power of Wigan chairman Dave Whelan.

"We must educate people," Martinez told the Daily Mirror.

"In five or six years, we reap the benefits. Maybe I won't be there then.

"But this is not why I stayed when Liverpool made me an offer.

"I stayed because my chairman is unique.

"This summer we sat down together. He had thoughts about the future of the club, I'd done the same.

"He knew that I had spoken with other clubs. But he is so persuasive, I extended my contract for three years.

"He wants to take the club to the next level. I know it will be difficult, but it excites me a lot."

Sounds like Rodgers wasn't first choice then (if true).

I'm a bit gutted for rogers tbh I know you don't judge a season on the opening game and all but I wanted him to do well even if seeing the odd liverpool fan crying brings a warm sensation in my heart.
