Dam it.... I'm addicted to WoW

I once had a friend who was addicted to wow. He became fat - addicted to take-away pizza's -, spotty and very unsocial.
Unfortunately, he died at a fairly young age, whilst playing wow with a full bucket next to him.

Well any game i get addicted to i know that my health comes first... i go to boxing and the gym (when ive got some spare cash) and partly watch what i eat ect... so i dont tend to get fat, its like any game just take a break every now and then and get out :D

its the worlds biggest game ever for a reason!!

Its definitely a great MMO for the right kind of person, but to be fair being the worlds biggest of something isnt always the solid indicator that some people might have you believe. Ask yourself what the worlds biggest fast food is, or the worlds most watched sporting event, or the worlds biggest selling car, or even the UKs most watched TV show and you might well find the answers are things that you think are awful. Size isnt always merely a sign of quality.

I played WoW for a couple of years and thought it was quite a good game, not a great MMO but certainly a good game. The BGs and Arenas ruined the game in terms of an MMO for me, the "community" put the final nail in the coffin of WoW for me... but millions still love the game and will continue to love it. Cataclysm will see millions more who quit WoW , some proclaiming that they would never play again, returning in droves so the future looks bright for WoW and Blizzard.

im not addicted, but the bloody game has taken a hold of me and will never let go :D

its not even that good but for some weird reason i keep playing it

Im playing VERY casually now, my two mains are retired permanently and im busy playing Starcraft 2, or planning the OCUK Cataclysm Guild.

STIV - See my sig
Your re-rolling for Cata?

I will just transfer my char if an OcUK guild gets going! :)

EDIT: Having just read the rules I think it will be fun from level one... :)

Err... yeah, basically like everyone else has said:

- Join a guild, preferably a smallish guild with people of the same level, so you've always got people to quest with.

- Learn two gathering professions for your first character you will make an absolute fortune, I would suggest mining and herbalism. Mining especially you can make a lot of money.

- I would also suggest changing to a PvP server they are much more fun and realistic imo. I originally started playing on a PvE server before I knew what all that meant and then went onto a PvP server and found it much more interesting. Yes you get ganked sometimes, but theres nothing better than calling in for backup and having some world PvP fun.

As for the chat spam, you will just get used to it or like others have said download an addon and block it all out.

im the same as you OP, slagged it off like hell but now im enjoying it. RAF'd with mate and it was pretty fun.

The re-roll guild is happy to house ex-hardcore raiders to guys/gals that have never played before. All we ask is you start at lvl 1 with us, play at your own pace and have fun.

Good your enjoying the game Goon.. but just remember it is only a game, although you have seen what it can do to people, wasn't it your mate that quit his job to play WoW?

I too enjoy a bit of WoW - although lack your capacity for addicition to it!

Too busy with work a wife and family, but given the other demands on my time if I only have time for one game WoW is it.

Sorry guys was out so havn't read thro everything yet...

To above post, i prehaps "addicted" is to strong a word. I too have a wife and a 4 month old daughter. I have 2 - 3 nite a week where i play it, unless we are planning on going somewhere.

2nite (Friday) for example, watching some TV and a movie then once we've put the baby to sleep around 10ish i'l jump on for a few hours.

Yep thats the key with all things, just strike a nice balance. Keep things sensible and there are no problems, go a touch overboard and I doubt a wife who has recently gone through child birth and the emotions of that and after that, or indeed the small baby itself (1 year old/toddler) will much appreciate the time spent playing a game (or games) :)

Keep the nice balance you have though and you'll have no probs :)

Yup totally, there are times when i just want to cane the game... but tbh i like having set times to play as its somethig to look forward to ya know!

Love it tho... few beers 2nite and about 5 hours on it!

Best of all cata is gona make it more player friendly to people like me after reading the info!

Your all welcome to join our little leveling guild if ya like!

I read this as 'I'll jump on her for a few hours'....perhaps I play too much wow

;)

The game does look really good, but I know if I play it I'll end up addicted and wasting so much time on it it's just not worth it. I haven't ever played it once, and I really hope I never do, even though i'm probably missing out on a lot of fun.

WoW's time has passed, move on young mmo padawan. their are differant variants of virtual crack out there.
