I thought this must be a typo, and you actually wanted a new door instead or it being repaired....but you seriously would expect a whole new car?!

In terms of getting a new car, not a hope in hell. I'd insist on getting it repaired by Toyota else the insurance company will take it to one of their approved cut-rate workshops and me personally the last 2 times I've had a car repaired by these 'approved workshops' I've had nothing but bottom ache with the car having to go back numerous times and in the end I just gave up.

Personally not surprised by the hate statement. They are a hateful, but typically Japanese little **** box.

My wifes car a is a Yaris, probably the previous shape as it's a 2010 but she and my daughter love it, my sons aren't that keen on it. I've driven it and yes it doesn't set the road on fire but then it's not marketed/sold on that basis. I've driven it and it's pleasant enough to drive, not so keen on the dual mass flywheel and the effects of that, what did you find hateful about it?

My wife is same as the OPs, she also never test drove the car, she made up her mind based upon the colour, the way it looked and after sitting in the drivers seat. I took it for a test drive and asked her to come along but she refused, make of that what you will.

just because there is no speed limit and it's a single carriage way does not mean you should be driving at 60mph. Was driving in hertfordshire on a really bend and poorly looked after road with dirt and mud all over the tarmac. Cars were tailgating me because I was doing 45-50ish. They wanted to do 60 there - I thought no chance.

:confused::confused:

What road in the UK doesn't have a speed limit?

and it's a single carriage way does not mean you should be driving at 60mph.

On the way to work this morning, the mrs was going down a country lane at less then speed limit of 60,

I hope your driving is better than your reading skills!

Sadly not.

I dont know why you have to be so rude and nitpicky, when i say there were no speed limit, I meant the national speed limit applies.

far too often in rural areas when there isn't a reduced speed limit drivers tend to floor it to the national limit, in a road with no street lights on a single carriageway the national speed limit is 60mph. So if a country road does not have a locally applied speed limit,it's perfectly legal to do 60mph on it

New door and mirror is about as good as it's going to get I would've thought.

Nice try though :D

yeah insurance company dont have large coffers where they will give you the most expensive replacement option.

They will get the repair done as cheap as possible. they aren't going to buy OP a new car for wing mirror/door damage. Not in a million years.

They'd take a £3k loss if they write the vehicle off and sell it to the trade to put it back onto the market.

whereas on a repair they will make money as they will send the car to their approved dealers, who'll give you a hire car at £100 a day and bill it to the other insurance company.

Just why do you expect a new car out of curiosity? On what grounds do you think this would possibly be granted?

FYI a friend has just bought a new Ford Mondeo, on the drive home it was sideswiped by a van, extensive damage to its off side yet strangely he isn't asking for nor expecting Ford to give him a new car due to something utterly out of their control, I'm curious as to why you feel your somehow different!
