'Dangerous Driving' by learner?

The best ones are where you pass someone on a country road, yes its on a bend but you can see all the way up the said road for long enough to see if there is any oncoming traffic. They then speed up to then write on their hand or note pad while driving to take your registration plate. WELL DONE SIR.

You'd think I drove hellbent on the limits of my driving and car, but I'd say most of the time I was only half way there when these things occur. Never had anything back from any of this. Just too many miserable old ***** round here methinks.
People generally don't like being overtaken, or seeing anyone overtake someone else. I don't get why they feel so unsafe when other people perform maneuvers that every driver should be able to perform!

I used to drive a van with a 'how am I driving label' on the back & often got SAD people calling the number moaning about frack-all, just cus I owned them with better driving lol.

I don't like being overtaken much, it's a stark reminder of my engines woeful lack of performance :(. Not something I get worked up about though, being tailgated on the other hand, that really boils my blood. The other week I was tailgated for miles and miles by this **** in an Audi A3, would have been less than 6ft from the back of my car and he had his blinding HID full beams on yet wouldn't pass even when I slowed down and moved/indicated to the left, leaving enough room for 2 or 3 buses. I must have had steam coming from my ears and veins ready to pop, I guess the old adrenaline was pumping a bit, I did feel like I was being hounded at the time.

Pull in at first available opportunity and let him go. Not worth even getting stressed about.

Of course if you couldn't pull off the road, you just need to try to stay cool, maintain your speed and ignore him.

Thats what I did, pulled into a layby but it was miles before I got to one. Maybe it was by imagination running wild but I could have sworn I saw his left indicator go on in my mirror as if he was going to follow me into the layby and do me in, but it went off and he carried on. Like I say though, I felt threatened by his behaviour, and my mirror was dimmed at the time because of his high beams, so maybe I was seeing things.

Now this is something I never get. I just don't get angry when driving. I sorta get flabbergasted at times, but I never feel any real emotion :\

Interestingly, I am gonna try and start my IAM course soon. Mainly as I recently remembered I bought one of those 'skills for life' packages months ago, and with my potential impending "leave of abscence" from driving, I'd best cash it in now, along with a couple of other license-requiring 'red letter days' I have! I'm really looking forward to seeing what the IAM observers think! :p

yea you and the learner was in the right

when i was doing my lessons i had a AA ford 1.6lt very nice and very quick it got many people that i had the power in the car and i used it

was it some old fart in that blue car?

They're doing that round here. All the Lake Districts long straight roads are getting a 50mph limit.

Because that extra 10mph really makes a difference???

The only road in the Lake District that ever kills people is the A591.

Which roads are going 50? I've not heard anything about it.

Mini cooper for a learner car is a bit too nice, I presume thats for your benefit mostly not theirs

if you think thats a nice Driving Shcool car

when I had a few lessons to pass the car test ;) the instructors car was a Brabham Viva RWD if you can remember back that far ( 40 years ) that car could shift a fair bit , he only ask me to put my foot down once ,then promptly told me off for speeding 90 i think  don't think the 70 limit was in force then :D

the best thing about that car it learnt you to be VERY carful with the loud pedel ( opps gas pedel )

The Zetec S isn't bad, but I doubt that'd be a learner car.

Depends what you're used to.

I cant rember if it was a Zetec or just stand focus but was very nice to drive

So true, especially when it's me overtaking them. They hate to be overtaken by a little old car, obviously their new car must be better than theirs. So they either speed up whilst I'm overtaking, or on motorways/dual carriageways they then overtake me. It is amusing though. :p

As if the A591 isn't full of weekend gypsies doing 50mph anyway, all scared by that sign at Ratherheath saying that 1 person a week dies on this road.
