Ah the Exige S's could have been late arrivals then. I imagine there area limited number of press cars about as they aren't in production yet.

I really don't like what they are doing with the exige. It's the hardtop hardcore version of the Elise... so they're making it heavier, softer and comfier. :rolleyes:

Ah, you see, thats the point. It isn't comfier. The inside looks just like the original Elise. Bare metal and sparce interior. The exterior and power (and price) suggests its a Porsche Boxter or Cayman rival, yet the interior makes it squarely just a faster Elise. I simply don't get it. If you want a hard core Lotus, buy an Elise or an early Exige. If you want a nice looking comfortable Lotus, buy an Evora. If you want something like an Exige S, buy a Porsche.

But yes, there was a lot of F1 heritage they don't own displayed on the stand.

That really bugged me.

I *think* they're basically using the V6 as a differentiator to split the the Elise and Exige into two different models ie the 4 pot variants will be badged Elise and the V6 variants Exige. Then under both the Exige and Elise names you'll have various body styles and varying levels of comfort/focus.

Kind of makes sense if you were starting from a clean slate but confusing to customers when the two names are already established.

I just find it nasty that the previously lightweight, hardcore, semi-slick shod Exige now comes with Air con, carpets, stereo, electric windows...

Just give us all the power with none of the toys!

Could make sense if, as you say, the names weren't fully established.

Elise = Small, lightweight sports car.
Exige = Track orientated version of the Elise.
Evora = GT car
