Hi all,

For those that are interested there is soon to be a new Dark Age of Camelot server going live, that is going to have the 2002 ruleset. This could be epic and return DAoC to when it was at it's best and before all the expansions ruined it (imo).

Therefore, while I/we wait (play WAR, whatever) there's a nice forum over at

www.daoc-origins.com

that is trying to build up a good DAoC community, so feel free to drop by and discuss everything Origins :)

As Kainz said, it's a proper Mythic server, they had so many requests they decided to make a new server that catered for the playerbase that preferred the game before all the expansions, i.e. old frontiers.

I just hope it is just one server, and they allow both EU and US people on it as it will most definately be EPIC if it has a decent player base.
 
In theory I have an old DAoC account somewhere. I wonder how easy it would be to retrieve it?

I'd probably quite like to play it again to re-live the old days (Played it during beta and release but dropped it quite quickly and went back to Asheron's Call...dear god).
 
I've heard DAoC is supposed to have the best PvP of any MMO. Might give it a go. How many people do you think will be rolling on this realm?
 
I too have a couple of accounts, but there's no point playing on EU servers now as there's usually about 6 people online during primetime :(

I really do hope they make 1 server and allow everyone and their dog onto it.
 
I'll certainly be giving this a go. I went back for a blat when they started the "Classic" servers and enjoyed it as much as I ever did.

It's got to be less boring than WAR, at least :)

In my opinion the PvP has not been matched.

I think it depends on how well the new server is publicised as I only stumbled accross it by accident.

Yeah, I wouldn't go near the old servers. It was depressing enough logging back into Asheron's Call. Now there's a game that's rattling in it's death-cage ;)

I guess I'm just not fussed about buying the game again - if I can just easily activate an account I'll consider giving it a try for a bit though.

Wow, this could be quite something. I spent years playing DAoC back in the day (Helium from EoO if anyone recognises the name...) - Hopefully this takes off a bit better than the Classic server ;)
 
Is this going to be another repeat of the "classic" servers? i.e. it'll be beserk with subs for 3 months, then everything will die as everyone goes back to their ToA etc. servers?

Why could OSI or EA never do this for Ultima Online?

For years and years 1000's of players pestered them for a 1997 rule set server, but they refused.

Good move by Mythic this, I never got stuck in to DAoC despite briefly playing it, so this is tempting me to give it another shot.
