Dark days, AMD share price at lowest ever.

He has a point most of their cards do tend to use more power and give off more heat than Nvidia. It's certainly been the case with the 7950 and R9 290 I had.

Fortunately their RX 480 seems nice and low powered so in theory won't be pumping out excessive heat. They will sell loads and their shares will rise further! :P

My 290 ran at 70c, which is a little hotter than the 970, but then it would be, it was in many ways a lot more powerful.

I have had both recently and over the years, all these proverbial argument are just shill arguments.

250 watts was never a problem if it was the 780TI, but if its the 290X OMG its so hot, it uses so much power.... and all the rest of it.

Its all shilling nonsense.

why did he come into the markets thread and post that crap right under where its cited that AMD's shares have rocketed up, its just trolling.

I've avoided team red simply because of the shoddy drivers (catalysts, what ever their called) and the fact their cards are always running hotter and louder.

Pay the premium for a better card and buy nVidia.

If you are not sure what the drivers are called you obviously have neither used them or know anything about them.

Some of the recent AMD cards have been much cooler running than anything NVidia has produced due to their AIO water coolers.

And the prize for the worst drivers in the last 12 months goes to NVidia.

Marketing works!

I just buy the better value card, which four out of the last five times has been AMD. No driver issues with AMD yet whereas I had a nightmare with Nvidia drivers on Vista. Luckily for Nvidia its marketing campaign with that small company in san francisco that changes it's name every week is still working I see.

Half tempted to buy some now. Any predictions?

I was a bit late to the party and bought in at $3.something initially, then topped up some at $4.something - I've made over 30% in a month.

My bet is with Zen in Q4 '16 and possibly Vega but more likely Q1-2 '17 AMD will hit at least $10USD

Just my take & no warranties on my take. I'm still buying on the dips as my cash comes to hand tho.

AMD Shares Drop More Than 8%

AMD (AMD:NASDAQ) shares have dropped by more than 8% during the last trading session and have broken some of the bullish momentum resulting in immediate correction towards the $5.01 price level. At the peak of $5.48, investors started selling shares and booking profits. The apparent cause behind the drop in the share price appears to be profit taking by investors driven by selling pressure at the $5.48 level.

FYI...........

A couple of months ago (28th April) I asked my friend his opinion on both AMD and Nvidia shares in terms of what the charts were telling him. Here is what he said - he knows nothing about the graphics card market or their upcoming plans.

"Nvidia hit a 61.8% retracement support at $24.77 then took off to target 1 so far 23.6% @ $37.47.. MA's show its riding up.. once above 37.50 we see 39.60 41.40 43.10 targets above.. but. . We are rising on diminishing volume.. higher highs with lower volume would point to a correct due soon IMO perhaps to test previous breakout high at $34.00.

Also Nvidia high back in 2006 was 39.67... we ain't far off that.. and with 39.60 being a fib target dangers of a double top coming in with some retreat..

AMD looks better as a buy.. 20 year high at $50.

We've had gap up on high volume from 2.50 to 4.00 8n a swoosh.. over 4.75 and this will climb to double the current price (3.72) most likely.. after that support on $10 then $12.50 $27 $40.

Looks like they been accumulating down here.

That's the techs. Bad or good news could make or break.

Both stocks are liquid so there be lots of intraday playing on them."

It is really good to see AMD doing so well in the price of their shares. quite a turn around from their lowest share price a year ago when this thread was started.

I just want to see them being consistent, and making smart choices. Bringing products to the market that are competitive for their price. However, they do still have to perform. no one wants a product that is half as fast even if it is half the cost. People want a bargain, something that gets them close, an 'almost' product with lower cost.

If they can bring products to the market that perform better than the competition, then great charge more. But till then, they have ground to make up.

Financially, having a company that fluctuates so much is worrying, it really hurts them. More consistency people.

What the hell. I was so tempted to move my company shares over to AMD after I was made redundant in February. This was when it was at like $2 and under. I had a strong feeling it was over sold and this would be a sure fire way to make a few buck but I am always overly cautious with these things. Especially having had no job at the time, couldn't take that risk.

Noticed Nvidia shares are soaring aswell.
