Dark days, AMD share price at lowest ever.

What the hell. I was so tempted to move my company shares over to AMD after I was made redundant in February. This was when it was at like $2 and under. I had a strong feeling it was over sold and this would be a sure fire way to make a few buck but I am always overly cautious with these things. Especially having had no job at the time, couldn't take that risk.

Noticed Nvidia shares are soaring aswell.

I still hold some Nvidia shares and have done for quite a while. Wasn't tempted to buy AMD shares as they carried more risk at the time, but for those who did they've done very well. Even just a £500 holding in AMD would have made enough for investors to buy a few cards now :).

AMD still on the march...

They hit $8 today, new predictions of $10 by 2017. by far an all time high.

Before the financial crash AMD stock value averaged $6 to $7, they are now trading above the value they were at when considered a healthy company.

If you are not sure what the drivers are called you obviously have neither used them or know anything about them.

Some of the recent AMD cards have been much cooler running than anything NVidia has produced due to their AIO water coolers.

And the prize for the worst drivers in the last 12 months goes to NVidia.

Not just water models, While my old 290x gaming was a red hot poker pos my current Fury tri-x at full load never exceeds 78 degrees on auto fan and is quieter than my Corsair silent edition case fans.

I feel like all this new news deserves its own thread so this one can die. I imagine plenty of people will read the thread title and assume that it is current information.

The fury's would have been fantastic cards for a very long time, had they had more than 4GB of VRAM :(

Regardless of the vram they had they would still be lagging in performance by this point. Its not enough these days to roll out fury and fury x and a year later still have those be their only high end options. AMD positioned fury x as a premium product, then went elcheapo on the pump which caused issues still unsolved to this day in a lot of cards, and had barely any availability for months. :(

Then the "worlds fastest graphics card" (as it was billed at the time) fury x2 turned into some kind of weird "prosumer" product and arrived months after it was supposed to.

It'll hit $25 easily by Q2 next year if Zen is as competitive as it appears and they can ship volume.

The company is still grossly undervalued relative to its IP and outlook.

If you read back to May when I bought in I said $10 by Q1 2017. It will dip now into the 6-7 range with profit taking and people with short attention spans but I hold that it WILL hit $10 in Q1 and then take off to $15-20.

It won't dip. Any major profit taking will only come once the $10 mark is breasted. Unless there's a disaster with Zen ...

If zen isn't upto sniff then they are in **** street, they've not competed in the cpu market for years now, it was arguably Jim Keller that gave amd success with cpu's then without him all they could do was refine existing designs. And the less said about piledriver and bulldozer the better. Zen has to be at last as fast as broadwell if not slightly faster.

Dunno why some of you try to state as fact what will happen. Nobody knows and predicting "dips" is guess work especially when looking at the short term. What matters is where they are in 6 months, a year, 2 years time, 10 years time :).

Been trading for many years but wouldn't say "it won't dip" about any stock :). Stocks can simply dip when for the time being everything is priced it, doesn't even matter if the fundamentals are really strong either. Sometimes the market kind of just runs out of buyers - good news can lead to drops even.

Must admit they are looking in pretty good shape right now and the market "probably" has further to go :D

Exactly, plus you can see profit taking every day on this stock, it's just not getting shorted like it was by all the parasites in months past.

The canny investor should relish a drop of a $ or 2, buy in again and reap the profits next year.
