Dark Phoenix (2019)

watched this last night, it was better than i was expecting which helps. The action scenes were on point brilliant imo, the scene when Magneto is on the train with all them guns is simply amazing to watch on the big screen.

ill score it 7.5/10.

Bit off topic - Matrix is coming out digitally remastered in 4K to the big screen (Vue) maybe worth a watch for me.

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, the soundtrack was the best part for me. The ending felt like this would be the final Xmen film or we'll be in for another reboot if they make another one.

Ya we didn't think it as bad as expected, i found it remarkably similar to all of the other x-men movies, most of them were awful including the wolverine films, the odd one was passable, x-men first class etc.
This was somewhere in between.

BTW at the end when you look in the sky, is she meant to still be up there flying about

I just got back from seeing this, not strictly true I just got back from the Indian after, and it was better than I expected it to be. I actually kind of enjoyed it for what it is. Not fussed if I ever see it again but it wasn’t t that bad.

From the look of it I'd say that both Captain Marvel and the original Dark Phoenix stories were extremely close to each other, and which ever one got released first would "screw" the other into reshooting a lot just to try and make it different -

Energy wave creates super powers
Shape-shifting aliens
Final battle in space with a flame covered hero (original DP ending)

etc etc

Apparently Dark Phoenix was due to come out in January, before Captain Marvel, but Sony, who just got the rights to X-Men, switched them around and also made changes to Dark Phoenixs' script.

I actually really enjoyed it, my Son did too. We were both surprised by how quickly the time had passed while watching it. Yeah the main part wasn't the best actress but easily one of the better films I've seen at the cinema recently.

I do have a question about time scales, the first X-Men film had Mystique in. How can this film which is presumably set years before that one have her dying in it or am I missing something obvious?

Only just watched this. I think the main annoyance with it was trying to stop my mind from questioning parts from the other films

The first time we meet Jean in the previous films she’s at home with old Charles and Magneto and many others!
