Dark Souls 3

I will tell you - it's not designed like that.

There's a weapon in his room, I'll leave it at that

Yeah I'd already beaten him so I looked it up, funnily enough that was one of the weapons I broke, just didn't know how to use it right. :o

YEAH!!!

Final boss was cool, but apart from his magic form he really wasn't very hard, phase 2 was a joke because I somehow managed to stagger him about 1/3 of the way through and every time he went to get back up, he just staggered again. Not sure if my dps was too high for NG1 or if that was a bug, but he basically sat there and lay down. :(

Scholar of the 1st Sin is tied with DS3 for the best DS game. Dark Souls 1 is a nostalgia bomb at the best. Demons' Souls takes the crown though, still the best bosses in the souls series, only boss that comes close to those is Nameless King.

Not sure why the bosses got significantly less epic when Demon's turned into Dark?

I think the lore for DS2 is the most interesting by far imo. Don't really care for any of it in 3, and tbh I'm sick of all this tedious story through item description nonsense. Something new going forward please!

Overall I think DS3 is the strongest game though.

DS2 & 3 spoils
How can you not love that style!? It adds so much impact when you actually experience the descriptions, like how the Drang warriors began dual wielding to intimidate foes and then you fight some and it's like... 'no pls'. :p

Or finding Lucateils body in Undead Settlement, that was chilling, or fighting the monster that killed and consumed Gwyndolin. DS3 makes so many references to 2 and 1 it feels great. Just wish half of Anor Londo wasn't missing and we could go back to the painted world.

this is the first time ive played a dark souls...should I kill npc's who don't attack me?

No no no, you'll be missing out on nice items periodically, like they give you items for after killing bosses and their questlines give you really good items you can't get elsewhere. Majority of them are vendors too who sell very useful supplies like magic, miracles, pyromancies, hexes, embers, weapons, armor, weapon buffs. The blacksmith too is extremely useful.

Although the old lady merchant, blacksmith and level up lady respawn when killed, the services they offer become more expensive the more you kill them.

Best ring is Carthus milk ring, I'm not far off Journey 3 and it's literally never left my 4th slot since I found it in Journey 1. :D

It is a cool ring must admit, with the utchi you feel like a proper ninja! Will play with it for a while.

Have you found Onikiri and Ubadachi dual katanas yet, and the actual ninja outfit from DkS1? Such an awesome setup. I haven't found ninja armor set yet but I know it's in the game, rocking Eastern atm like a samurai.

Have you got the Sellswords Twinblades? Cool left bumper move, uses no FP, and neat left trigger uses very little FP. Really cool set.

They are okay but honestly the onislayer special of the dual katanas is ridiculous, staggers most enemies mid-flight and does massive counter damage when you land, even staggered a few bosses with it. Though I've respec'd into a strength build atm, the Dragonslayer greataxe thingy is insane, 800 damage on paper and charged power attacks hit 2k+ in PVE and 1k+ in PVP. Did 1/2 of the dragon's HP in the Nameless King fight with the charged power attack.

Running Dark Sword +10 with the Dragon Slayer Shield... amazing, can chew through enemies like they are not there, the shields special knocks enemies on their ass.....

in PVP a guy did a full fireball toss on me, shielded through it and was a slaughter

Ew, Greatshields are aids enough in PVP, without a Dark Sword with it! You were defending yourself from an invasion I hope? Invading others with that kind of playstyle is really negative on the community. People are losing faith in DkS3 PVP because of setups like these.

Not sure I agree with you, as every invasion I have done so far...est about 100 has only ever been 1 on 1 about 4 times, every single time there are multiple phantoms

That's invasions though, if you want PVP find the unofficial PVP zones and drop a red soapstone. Invading was always pretty toxic, 3v1 invasions are fine, because invading doesn't come with honor. Just a shame when a lone player gets invaded by somebody with a character unbeatable just because of their gear. Greatshields are ridiculous. You can use the Knight Slayer + Mule rings and barely even touch someones stamina by kicking their shield, and if you don't have a sword with the stance skill you're boned.

Had my first havelsaurus greatsheild invader last night, he was just 2 hand charging me with it, such an annoying fight and waste of 10 minutes lol

Best way to beat people like that is to use a stance weapon, the R1 during the stance breaks somebodies guard even if their shield had 9999999 stability, and due to the fact the greatshields block hits during the charging attack, you're guaranteed to get a riposte.

I really wish From had made greatshields parryable... Other than straightswords there really is no counter play to them.

I have no idea how people can play these kind of playstyles, I'd get bored after 10 minutes.

Because people value trolling over actual game content. It's a shame they exist in the community.

Was summoned by somebody doing it earlier at Pontiff bonfire, may sound like an overreaction but it's basically destroyed my spirit for PVP in this game now, knowing that you could be summoned to 1v1 thatat an organised place is pretty ****. I wonder what would happen if someone bought a trollshield build to a fight club, 5v1'd? :D

Yep, poise has been switched off and only activates during that exploit or when attacking with a great weapon. Same as armors being purely cosmetic like Bloodborne, Havel's barely protects you anymore than the master's attire and a lioncloth, and it's poise stat is worthless.

I prefer it. Can look good without being punished as the big armors look stupid, and poise was always cheap, especially the Havel mages and Havelstoc guys in the previous games.

For parrying gamers I'd certainly recommend using the Farron Greatsword(it comes with a curved dagger as part of the set). Great timing, I'm no expert but I was parrying for fun.You get it at Firelink Shrine for exchange of one of the boss souls+ you may need to pay 5000 souls too.

Great weapon, dex, will be using it on NG+.

Really don't like the Farron GS in PVP, every single move is parryable even the sliding stuff. It's great in PVE though as it has high base damage and dex scaling, and that slidey attack can go under so many boss moves.

I am using the Lothric Knight Sword infused with fire gem.

Or I can use the Irithyll Staight Sword but this has no critical damage hit.

Crit is only a modifier for increased backstab/riposte damage incase you didn't know. Frostbite is great for PVE (awful in PVP) because nothing resists it, even the rider knights can get frostbitten pretty easily.

One tip for Crystal Sage-

in his second phase you can tell which one is the real one by the colour of his magic, it will be purple as opposed to the blue of the fakes

Also, again if you are struggling there is an NPC summon in the room before the fight, but tbh I didn't find him much help.

Another good tip
is buy a dagger, and equip it for the fight as like your 2nd right hand weapon, hug the walls on his final 2 appearances and bum rush the blue sages first and one shot them with the dagger (its running attack is very fast). Once all the blue sages are gone the purple one is no threat. You really run the risk of getting blown up by all the clones magic if you rush straight for the purple.

So, big problem here. That semi circle(actually, it's about a full 360 swing) attack *doesn't* miss. It totally whacks me and takes over half my health, stuns me and leaves me open to a 2nd hit I cant avoid even if I wanted to, killing me.

This **** is about impossible.

EDIT: Just summoned another phantom. This guy was decent. Made the boss cakewalk. Just desperately wanted to progress at this point....

You're going to love Pontiff.

Better learn how to parry. :D

Just gotta get 1 more pyromancery from the mound-makers, turn Ocerios' soul into a spell and find 3 more rings for all achievements, woo :D

The amount of time I spent over the NG+s making sure I got every boss weapon (most are crap and useless) was wasted though, totally thought there was an achievement for owning every weapon like the previous games :(

Nice will be going for this myself mate, done bloodborne and ds2 so why not :) im only 15hrs in atm mind, at the boreal valley atm, seems a much more interesting area

I think this is the easiest one to 100%, although getting the rings is a little tricky and there are pyromanceries/rings locked behind the deepest covenant allegiances. Assuming the online works okay for you, don't do what so many people are doing and farming mobs for the covenant items, they are all 2% chance to drop at the most, like proofs of concord from Silver Knights for example. You're much better off just becoming a blue sentinel for 30 anti-invasions as it's much faster and more fun.

Although some people are having big issues with a few covenants like watchdogs and sentinels, so if you're one that never gets summoned (isn't user error, you're either f'd or you're not) you will have to farm them.

Tongues/Sunlight medals/shackles shouldn't be an issue, you can get both by invading with the right covenant equipped. Best place to get tongues IMO is to equip Rosaria Fingers covenenant and put a red soapstone down outside Boreal Valley boss, I've gotten 10+ tongues in one summon from clearing out fight clubs people host. Sunlight medals/shackles you can get doing the same with WoS/Mound-Makers equipped or by putting your friendly summon sign down outside bosses ofc, with Mound-Makers being better off putting their summon signs down at bonfires if you want to acquire them through PVE and not from player killing, as PVE Mound-Makers can only get shackles through killing enough mobs, they can't fight bosses. Although Mad Phantoms can attack/be attacked by the host and white phantoms so that's something to look out for.

Either way:

Concords (Sentinels/Darkmoon) = Silver Knights, farm the 3 leading up to Aldrich from the bonfire
Wolf grass (Watchdogs) = Gru monsters in the swamp, farm the 3 outside the bonfire
Dregs (Aldrich Faithful) = Deacons in Aldrich area
Pale Tongues (Rosaria Fingers) = Darkwraiths, before Abyss Watchers is the best place
Shackles (Mound-Makers) = Giant skeletons in the catacombs
Sunlight Medals = Lothric Knights

Only do these as a last resort though, as like I said the drop rate is 1/50 so on average you'll have to kill 1,500 of each monster to get the 30 needed! 1,500 Darkwraiths can take days.

Tried to keep that as spoiler free as possible, but the covenants are the hardest/most time consuming part of getting 100%
