Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

It's a GFWL game so it makes no difference since the Steam version will use it also.

Besides you get a bunch of goodies with the retail version and not to mention that it is much cheaper.

yeah cheapest i've seen sofar is £27 online and I have a staff discount card at this supermarket which should bring it down to 25.

Contents Include:
· A stunning 150 page Art Book (featuring art from the new Artorias of the Abyss game content)
· Original Soundtrack CD
· DVD containing the complete behind the scenes video series
· Poster
· Postcards

Can't see it any cheaper atm

If it plays just the same as the console version, then i don't see the big deal about the 30fps thing. Ill probably wait on the feedback from others, to see if its worth it or not.

There seems to be a massive amount of confusion on this thread. Just to clarify this to everyone, ITS ONLY THE GAMES INTERNAL FRAMEBUFFER THAT IS RESTRICTED TO 1024x720 - NOT THE RESOLUTION!
You can set any resolution you like! And in my opinion I would reckon that 90 percent of people wouldnt notice the difference on Dark Souls with that framebuffer or one matching the res. PS3s and 360s upscale like this in every game and no one bats an eyelid...

Sorry for double post, pushed the button by accident. Just wanted to add that I've been wanting to play this game for ages so I've pre-ordered and looking forward to it. Mildly disappointed about GFWL and no gfx upgrades on PC and apparently no 60fps mode. Very very pleased about the improved framerate over the consoles (Eurogamer confirmed blightown no longer slows down AT ALL on the PC version and the game only has very minor dips below 30fps) and also very pleased the game is the best version on PC.
I know a lot of people cant live with 30frames and thats fine if they choose not to buy it. For me though I can happily live with that.
When GTA San Andreas came to PC many years ago I was gutted to find out the fps was locked to 25! But once you start playing, the game is so damn good you dont notice it after a while. Im sure Dark Souls PC is gonna be just as good an experience for me locked at 30 frames!

Most of the hate comes from GFWL. Because of this everything is being picked on, the anti GFWL crew are strong on here :) One of them even told me to die because I said I liked GFWL LOL. But hey, they will either miss out on a great game, or buy it and pretend they did not, either way who cares, I for one can't wait for it.

Telling you to die is a bit harsh! And I know what you mean, a lot of people hate GFWL. I'm lucky in that I've never had a problem with it and its just a minor annoyance that I cant backup my saves. I look forward to maybe fighting with ya in game in the next week or so...

with me getting 100% on my ps3 i cannot wait to get stuck in on the extra content and invading certain people on my steam friends list :D

the only worry i have is backing up game save data with a gfwl game.

There's been plenty of games within recent years that have had ports to the PC with limited options, yet I personally find them to still turn out fine and be playable enough e.g. Split Second or Ridge Racer Unbounded.

In the end as long as they still perform better one way or another than the console counterpart, it doesn't bother me that much.

I'm still looking forward to this game, and who knows, even though it's highly unlikely, there's always a slight possibility of From Software making a patch in the future to address some issues.
