Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Not sure if I like this, or I'm playing it just for the sake of beating it.
I like combat against normal mobs, but bosses, just seem like unpredictable cluster *****, getting in close, hoping their attack misses you, and yours hits.

Was stuck for ages on that headless statue thing, damn jump attack was practically unavoidable.
Stuck on the Bell Gargoyles now.

Lol. :p

We all felt like that when we first played a Souls title, give it a few days and you'll of nearly mastered the game. They aren't hard games by any stretch of the imagination, the games downfall is the predictability of the enemies, including bosses so just wait and be patient. Study them and get to know them, and then they'll become glorified training dummies.

“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”

:D

If anyone wants a load of texture mods (high res subtitles, high res xbox 360 icons, high res health bars, high res faces etc) without surfing around, I'll upload my tex_override folder to mediafire or something and you lot can download them, it's only 57MB in size. You'll need DSFix and once you've downloaded them, delete your tex_override folder from

''C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA\dsfix''

and then unzip the folder in, or simply unzip it into your directory and merge/overwrite.

On another note, found these. :p

If you want an easy run, get either

10 strength and 10 dexterity and use a longsword (very easy)
16 strength and 10 dexterity and use a claymore (easy)
24 strength and 10 dexterity and use a zweihander (kinda awkward)

invest everything else into vitality and endurance, try and keep vitality 10 or so points higher. Upgrade your weapon as you go through until you get +10 and when you get to New Londo upgrade your weapon to lightning. Easiest build, high endurance allows for pretty much any armor in the game without killing mobility and the vitality is overkill for survival, the three weapons stated have the best movesets out there and are easy to use, I'd recommend the zweihander for PvE or if you decide to go PvP try the longsword, with high stamina it will kill pretty much anyone from stunlock.

Go for pyromancy aswell, it's free (except attunement slots, but you can get quite a few with less than 20 attunement) and has no real requirements. A super flame hand thingie +5 (from Blighttown witch) has massive magic adjustment and can allow pyro spells to smash for huge damage.

Assuming they have no poise and just stand there letting you wail on them, anyone with half a brain cell will just parry you because the move set is to predictable. Not to mention your complete lack of damage.

Which is why you parry them, and instead of riposte you kick to begin the stunlock then combo on them. Unless it is PVP 125+ or a dude in Havel/Giant gear then they won't survive 7-8 consecutive hits from a lightning longsword. The amount of people I've killed with that gimmick is beyond ridiculous.

I like starting as a Bandit, their stat allocation is perfect for a warrior, and you can get a pyro hand later on and that costs nothing but attunement to use.

This is why some developers choose to make important NPCs immortal, so boneheads don't go and break their games and then make it sound like it's the developers fault. :p
