He sounds remarkably confident about the game itself, I'm still very sceptical about the state of infrastructure for the launch.
Reading that, just makes me want to try this more.

It would bother most people....
for about 5 minutes then (if they make it as advertised) those who realise it has great gameplay and immersion will carry on playing and the ones who run after shiney things will go away (hopefully forever)
Low spec requirements will also open up the game to a much broader audience (particularly those who used to play UO), however it seems this will be doomed to being a niche game considering the lack of advertising/planning/exposure

First off, nice little sly remark.
Second, why would i want to buy a washing machine that has all the bells and whistles but is in fluorescent yellow when my kitchen is cream with white appliances? When i could buy a white washing machine with the same specs?
Point being, this game concept is constantly being reinvented, Mortal online is meant to have exactly the same ideas as this game but using UT3 engine. Why would anyone want to play a game with appalling graphics and a game concept being used all the time?
Third, the game is going to fail because it was announced in 2001, its now 2009. During that period of time there was meant to have been countless betas, updates and release dates.
Broken promises, crap graphics and 8 years of waiting = fail.
If your buy your PC just for how games look then play AoC or something. I really don't care about the graphics The fact that they are better/as good as most games on the market is a bonus. Any serious player will turn the graphics right down anyway most the time.
Name one game with similar game concepts thats out now. Runescape? A browser game with worse graphics than Ultima Online and level based....Shadowbane? Didn't even get a proper release in EU and is dead anyway. Eve Online? Thats a space game and has very little player skill involved..Name one that has similar features that isn't Mortal Online..a game that you also probably know nothing of and have little interest in. If you want pretty graphics and dumb gameplay you have plenty of options.
Third, who cares if its taken a long time to develop? Its speculators and people that put words in the devs mouths that make out they've broken promises before..They never announced a release date until now. They created a new engine from scratch like 4 years ago or so so the dev time isn't as long as 9 years and even so what difference does it make?
So you can't answer my points just put a label on me?
I said it might suck..said it might flop..I'm not a fanbois I'm just looking forward to it
1999, EverQuest launched with sub-par graphics for it's day, and went on to write the rulebook for every MMO that came after. EQ guild leaders become musicians, developers and artists after being hired by the industry.
2004, WoW launches with sub-par graphics for it's day, and went on to score 11 million subscribers. Becomes the biggest MMO of all time.
Advanced, or even current graphics mean nothing in MMO's. If anything, they're a hindrance.
It's a statement of fact. Nothing more, nothing lessFirst off, nice little sly remark.
Your analogy is flawed, there is no game with the same features currently released (bar free shards)Second, why would i want to buy a washing machine that has all the bells and whistles but is in fluorescent yellow when my kitchen is cream with white appliances? When i could buy a white washing machine with the same specs?
Initial release date, During summer 2009Point being, this game concept is constantly being reinvented, Mortal online is meant to have exactly the same ideas as this game but using UT3 engine. Why would anyone want to play a game with appalling graphics and a game concept being used all the time?
Mortal Online started development in 2002, most mmo's have a long development cycle this is very well knownThird, the game is going to fail because it was announced in 2001, its now 2009. During that period of time there was meant to have been countless betas, updates and release dates.
They haven't broken any promises yet because the game hasn't even been released yet (bar ofc the release date which is moved in almost every game, and more than likely will be moved for Mortal Online), you have no idea what the end gfx will be likeBroken promises, crap graphics
Actually WoW's graphics on release were pretty good, considering even the latest tech couldn't run it maxed without FPS drops. Even now WoW's graphics are great and thats because of the style of graphics they used.
You mentioned the textures in Darkfall. So lets look at the textures in WoW. The stretchy mountains, rocks and wood are laughable.
But this is WoW we're talking about here. So lets use the blanket term "art direction" as it's the one-stop-shop of excuses for their carppy textures.
)Teki, stop stirring it you git /slap![]()

But its fun to watch people take the bait.
Anyway i haven't said anything about darkfall since i said i would stop.
But some of the screenshots look good in the link posted above, but i like my models without the gloss finish.![]()

but this is 2009 people expect atleast 2007 graphics
