Darkfall Online Unholy Wars!

See i dont get it, why go to the trouble of finding great gear just to bank it? lol.. so your saying basically go out, find decent gear, put it in the bank, never wear it and spend the rest of your time fighting in crap gear cos it dont matter if you lose it, so whats the good gear for? purely bragging rights?

You pool gear to use later, like in a guild attack or defense situation. Everyone puts on their best and then stomps the opponent (thats the idea). Its like having that suit for sunday best, dig it out of the wardrobe for special occasions and feel like a boss.

Basically :) Trust me, and I am sure anyone who has played a full loot MMO and enjoyed it would agree, if you try it, you will get hooked. MMO's like WoW were/are good, but they never recreated that "in a real world" feel, basically because your gear would be magically glued to your PD.

You used to get some fannys return your items in DFO, normally once they would return them my boys would ambush them to teach them a lesson.

http://www.luxarcana.org/portal/ The guild I'm in is recruiting still if you're looking for a guild (highly desirable in a full loot pvp game). We were one of the top guilds in the original darkfall and hope that continues.

Can't wait until the 12th!

Here's some youtube videos of classes. more can be found on their youtube channel.

I would be up for that, hopefully you's can show me some things I may not know as I never played the original Darkfalls, so I would be willing, if you are willing to put up with a n00b :P

Apply. We take on experienced players and new players as we're pretty much all in it to have fun. everyone will be starting over due to Unholy wars being a completely new game. so while some things might be the same It'll still be a different game. so we'll all be learning.

No problem, will apply either tonight or tomorrow night, whenever I can get the time! thanks :)

Also, wednesday looks like it will be launch day, although it may be for ex players only as they hit a few hiccups trying to get pre orders set up.

Hi,
One point to make before the developer diary: I know that I said in the MMORPG.com Q&A that pre-orders were to launch this week, and we really tried until a little while ago before having to accept defeat, a combination of things (most we could not control since there are 3 companies working on this) made it impossible. Obviously our main focus is on the actual game, but this was important as well, so it’s frustrating for us, as I’m sure it is for you. So will we still do a pre-order before launch at this late date? Perhaps if this can be done on Monday so we can break up the buying traffic before the launch day and make sure everything is working right, and give you the ability to reserve your character name beforehand. There will be people working on this over the weekend here, at the provider and at our billing processor’s, so we hope we’ll be able to have the option on Monday.

I assume Steam is the thing holding it up, hopefully they can get this sorted!

Yeah, lost interest in it as of now. Will check out peoples opinions on next week (although I will not hold my breath!) Will wait until after full release to see how it is.

Bad business practices from Adventurine, very risky too.

I know I said I lost a lot of interest, but....

We’re currently working on putting together the beta build. The game will be running in debug mode and it’s a different build from what we would have launched. We didn’t have this set up before since there was no plan to do a public beta before launching the game, mostly due to time constraints associated with managing this process.

There will be a beta forum. Since this was also not planned, we need to add the functionality to the new account system; we should have this in time. The only place beta discussion should take place is in the beta forum. There will be developer monitoring and interaction in this forum.

The pre-orders are planned to launch along with parts of the new website on early Friday evening. I know I said that the orders could be limited and throttled, but there’s enough capacity that we can pretty much guarantee this won’t happen before the beta launch on Monday, so there’s no reason to rush the account system.

Pre-order pricing is 14.95 for returning players, the price of the subscription. If you’ve ever bought Darkfall, you’re eligible for this price promotion during the pre-order period which should run until close to the game launch. New players, who haven’t bought the original Darkfall, can pre-order the game for 29.95 which represents a 25% discount.

In the registration page of the account system, there will be a checkbox where you can enter your previous account information to associate it with your current account. This will give returning Darkfall players the option to pre-order Darkfall Unholy Wars for the price of the subscription.

By pre-ordering you get 30 days of game time when Darkfall Unholy Wars launches. It gives you Beta access. It gives you the capability to reserve your character’s name. We will also look into giving pre-orders a head start for launch, but we can’t commit to this yet.

That’s all for now, we’ll come back with more details tomorrow.

Thank you for reading.

The proverbial carrot dangles in front of my face! GOD DAMMIT AV! :D

Beta servers are meant to go live today, Already had an update from the dude himself, Tasos. saying they're trying to fix one last bug which is apparently pretty bad and they will open servers with a patch, if they can't patch it, beta will still go live tonight.

only time will tell :O

Defo gonna keep an eye on this, the original Darkfall was far from what they promised but they seem to be making a lot of good changes.

Still reluctant to spend £30 when they screwed up their last game so badly. But at the same time I want an MMO..

They didn't screw Darkfall up badly, it was a fantastic game. however due to being an independent developer with limited resources, and the way they made the game, it was hard for them to make changes.

You have to persist with Darkfall, a bit like eve. Once you've spent time with it, and learned the game, it's quite rewarding.

Darkfall ended up having 100 players on at peak time, I'm amazed they've managed to come about and revive their franchise. I want it to succeed and will see how the player base reacts to the changes

the problem was originally, when it was launched everyone was at the same skill level, and after a few months of people macro'ing and cheating, quite a few players had reached a skill level that took normal players atleast 7-8 months to get to. Then those caught up and it became quite hard for people to get to that level without being in a guild.

Now the playing field and leveling time has been drastically reduced to stop macro'ers and cheaters, skilling takes much much less time to skill up and we now have roles, as opposed to the old "have everything" system.

While Darkfall Vanilla was the best mmo I've ever played, it took persistence. and probably a lot more persistence if you were new after a year of release.

This re-release is supposed to make it a more viable game, while still maintaining it's FFA system.

That and Aventurine have very loyal players, people were still subbed to fund AV.
