Anyone playing it? Anyway, I love what you can do in the game, but the world is huge & empty. Takes forever to get to any action, I feel a bit cheated that I find a MMORPG I waited on the beta list 4 years for is mostly boring for me. I mean it is a nice game for a companies first, but I want more action. I don't really like games that make being part of a guild be most of the fun factor. I started thinking about EvE online again & that game is lower on the fun factor, so that gives you a clue on DFOs fun factor.

I've been debating whether to get this for a while. What is it, like £35 or somthing? Thats quite a bit considering the amount of moaning on the forums. Now I know official forums are the last place you should go for an honest appraisal of a game so for those playing it I'd like to know if they think its worth the money. I've got as far as downloading the client but all the stuff about cheaters and the game being boring unless you join a guild put me off.

Darkfall is a PvP game, the rest of the features seem to just be an afterthought.

Hopefully time with improve the PvE side of things, if not I can see it wearing a bit thin having pretty meaningless PvP.

It is completely normal that you feel cheated.

After waiting so eagerly for Warhammer Online and Age of Conan, when they were released and turned into a total flop, I was none too impressed either (hence why I now hold very little hope for any MMOs other than Blizzard's next offering).

It is true that the longer you follow a game the more disappointed you will feel when it is released.

DanTheMan is right, isn't it just a guild based PvP game anyway? I didn't think it was supposed to be anything different. It's not geared up towards solo play, roleplay or character progression, from what I've seen.

Darkfall Devs simply didnt have the money nor resources to complete the game.. also sadly the other problem is everyone has been brainwashed into thinking only Blizzard can make a decent MMo... *cough*

SoE's SWG was probably the most anticipated MMo since Ultima or Everquest and on release it was amazing . We all know it died when they re-vamped the WHOLE game but pre NGE/CU it was fantastic.

Turbine have also had great success with DAoC ,D&D and probably the best MMo available Lord Of The Rings Online..

Darkfall desperately needed heavy investment and another year or so for it to have lived upto its hype, many buyers knew this was not going to be the case having learned the hard way with the false promises of AoC and WAR..

Bioware and Lucasarts have SWTOR in the pipeline with both companies having fantastic success in practically everything they release, hopefully they will get the mix right and we will be singing the games praises on release, but hey lets not get too excited according to what some peeps think

If that is aimed at me, I really do not see your point. Blizzard have made an extremely successful MMO and so have the ridiculous amounts of resources, experience and time required to put out their next at a very high standard (Can you name one bad Blizzard game?). They know, and we know, that anything less would not be accepted.

DAoC was made by Mythic and look what happened to their last release.

And just because I don't put all my hope in any upcoming MMOs does not mean I think they will be terrible or I will not play them, just that Blizzard is a developer you can count on to put out consistently high standard products.

I'm playing, and to be honest I would not have any fun if I wasn't guilded at all. Being in an Alliance is awesome as you never know what is going to happen so rallying all your allies on a siege that could happen at any time is hectic and pretty fun to be honest.

To be honest at the moment Darkfall is a bit like a Cake without any icing, it's stable, lag free 95% of the time & fun. But their are some fatal flaws they have left out of the game.

1. Their is no siege door mechanic so anyone can wander in (depending on guard's).

2. The alignment system is a bit of a joke, you can grind Alignment in neutral cities with no guard towers.

3. Grinding is prevailent in this game, it's more fun if you're out in a guild group/group but trying to get items on your own is difficult.

I can name several bad Blizzard games, though admittedly they're from the earlier days of Blizzard

Then they were probably around before my time :p

I've played and enjoyed pretty much every game since Blizzard became Blizzard Entertainment (although have heard some of the console ports they did under Silicon & Synapse were pretty corny).

Yeah its mostly their really early stuff, like Justice League beatem up and the Superman game. Also I really hated the 2 Lost Vikings games :) On the whole though, they have been pretty reliable in terms of quality for the last decade (although I didnt like starcraft, but thats a personal taste thing rather than a comment on the games quality)

I'm having fun. It's got massive flaws, but the PvP and related politics is some of the best I've seen for a long time.

OOPS !! .. damn now i will have to go back in time and change history so i dont look a fool

im not anti-Blizzard as they are a superb company its just i dont think WoW is as good as most seem to think.. lets not forget Blizzard tried to aquire the Warhammer license for their MMo but it didnt come off, they made a truly successful MMo in WoW but i couldnt stand the kiddy type gfx and the majority of the community.

my comment was meant to be taken light heartedly, as to suggest that only Blizzard can make a successful MMo/Game is overly blinkered to say the least, and therefore you imply that Bioware/Lucasarts regardless of their amazing catalogue of games are doomed to fail !!! im quite sure they wont .. .. ... .... probably maybe hopefully not ;-p
