Any recommendations, ideally I dont want to spend £250 on a camera, I am thinking more around £100-150 the quality needs to be good enough to get enough detail like car type, number plate etc but doesnt need to be HD movie quality.

Anyone got any suggestions, Ideally I would like to have a battery powered unit that can be removed from the mount to charge it up rather than having cables snaking all over the place.

We'll have, "Saxo driver, makes loads of noise, and doesn't go anywhere fast, whilst young man smokes a cigarette and flicks the bird at police".

Yeah i saw that but having looked at the quality of video from the DVR-1 snooper its not as good as i would think would be necessary to act as evidence should you capture anything that goes on.

I think its going to come down to spending some more money

I'd be interested in this as well, I have a 5" tablet stuck to my screen at the moment but it doesn't handle vibration very well.

Is that £15 camera on Amazon really any good?

From what I have seen from the internet reviews of it not really, there are some decent £60 ones out there but when you look at the size of them they are HUGE!

Small discreet ones with decent camera's GPS and storage are around the £180-250 mark, I can see the value of them in the current climate of litigation and fraudulent claims it would be useful to have something to show your side of events.

So let's say you're driving along and someone pulls out and catches you then deny's it.
Assuming your camera caught the incident, can the footage actually be used?

As far as I know, it's legal to record in a public place without permission and as such, you should be able to use it as evidence.

Don't quote me on that though. Basing it on limited knowledge.

I don't see how it couldn't. In any insurance issue I've had, I've taken lots of photos, which has been used. I've even been asked to sketch something in ms paint (back in the day) to illustrate what happened.

Can't see how a video recording would be ignored.
