Dashcams!

Im sure its my dashcam (thinkware F770) but my car battery looses charge rather quickly

I only do about 6 miles to work, but last week I added the rear camera to it

Went to work today, 8 hours later, voltage reading is 11.5
if I leave it overnight (so about 12 hours) check it in the morning its 11.5

Dashcam seems to shut off soon as it drops below 11.6v (i think its supposed to shut off at 11.6v as its at its lowest setting

anyone else for a problem with their Thinkware or other Dashcam?

oh i forget to add, it has parking mode
I've set mine to cut off at <12volts, it never seems to go below that though. Could your battery be due replacement, since it loses its charge quickly? That or something else could be sapping power. No way of properly knowing unless you have the right equipment to check .

its a High powered one with a 5 year warranty, only 3 years old, got it tested a few months ago, alternator and battery are fine (he used a volt meter accross the battery and we did a lot of tests

seems to be on the dashcam, as once it gets to 11.5v it stays at that for days it would seem

running its 14.1 to 14.3v
parked it starts at 12.5v/12.6v

that is correct, it does supposed to tell you to format it after so many weeks, its built into the device
Mine prompts me to format every few weeks or so to. Quick press of the format button and it's done. I wouldn't say it's constant nagging or any particular hardship though, so I assumed he had a different issue with his unit?

That just seems wrong without benny hill music to go with it. Does the dashcam record like that or have you skipped frames?

I speeded it up for the video, it records at normal speed. No lost frames or jumps between clips either unlike with some cameras. You can set it to record in 3, 5, or 10 minute clips with the oldest file automatically being deleted when card is full, you can save clips of importance from being deleted too. Came with a 16GB Kingston microsd card.

So I took off the parking mode today, and when i got back to the car it was at 12 volts, so clearly the parking mode is draining my battery, I have always had the motion detection at its lowest setting with the "impact" one at default

my Thinkware F770 seems to be draining it rather quickly, is this normal?

It's not recording all the time in parking mode is it?

yes and no, it isn't "continuous" but it does activate very frequently (I work in a supermarket and we park in the customer car park as there isn't anywhere else in the village) so you can imagine how many people and cars are walking around.
at home over night it hardly goes off at all, just when the odd car goes past etc

checked it again today, still 12v (parking mode off)
