Dashcams!

Considering a dashcam for my new car but I have a number of questions/issues.
  1. best option with speed camera alerts, Are these worth having now?
  2. front facing cam only as I cant think of a sensible way to mount a rear cam on a S5 Cabriolet.
  3. can the cables be run around the screen safely on a S5 Cab? the A pilar contains airbags I belive and i dont much fancy getting a dashcam launched into my face if i have a crash.
  4. Is parking worth having if its front only, most dings ive had in the past have been door bangs in supermarkets when mummys little sweetheart whacks the door of the people carrier off you and mummy just laughs.

Whilst not cheap, I'm thinking of it as a tool that will last a long time in various cars. Is the F800 Pro 2ch, with all fitting bits n bobs for £350 posted something to consider?

finally got my f770 installed, got a couple of questions:
1. is the continuous power for parking mode also 12v? mine doesn't seem to work.
2. do most people cover up the camera lights to make them less noticible, or leave them visible so people know theyre being watched?

Edit: The f770 phone app says my battery is supplying 11.6v which seems to be under the thresh hold for the hardwired parking mode. Has anyone here ever had a battery that worked fine yet was too low powered to run the dashcam in parking mode? I'd like to make sure it's the problem before coughing up £80 for a new one just to get the dashcam going.

You don't need to cover the light, there is an option in the app to turn it off.

Who hardwired it for you and is it wired up properly as it should record as long as you have not set the voltage threshold too low.

So seems as good a thread for this as any but why am I noticing the worst drivers on the road are the ones with dashcams? I'm not talking hooligans just...incompetent and stupid.
Prime example was yesterday, in a queue of cars and I (as well as several cars behind me and some in front) notice an ambulance coming up behind so we all indicate and pull over. Except for the moron woman immediately in front of me who then pulls out in front of the ambulance to over take the car in front of them that's pulled over to let the ambulance past. I have no clue how the ambulance driver managed to stop. The moron them pootled along at 30 (it's a 60 limit) holding the ambulance up further before finally pulling over to let it through about 300m up the road.

Then...this morning sitting behind an old bloke at a roundabout who's giving way to the left! Swearing at people coming from the right until he just pulled out in front of someone whilst pointing at his cam. Wtf?!

Obviously not saying all drivers with dashcams are morons but all morons these days seem to have dashcams!

Any recommendations on a dash cam ideally with Parking mode (motion sensor?) and the ability to view footage from my mobile phone?

Budget of £50

if you watch a lot of dashcam videos you notice a trend for some dash cammers not to let people into queues etc just so they have something to film.

Yeah I have now that you mention it. Had another dashcam douche this morning. Forcing her way through a gap in her suv when it was the car in front of me who had right of way. Sure enough, look at that windscreen and there it is mounted next to the mirror.
I'm starting to work on the theory that these people have a fair number of accidents and are somewhat delusional so think it's always the other person who's at fault. Thus the cam is there to try and reinforce that self belief.

I am looking for something to sync to my NAS after Use, possibly too Synology. My car isn't too far away from my router location, would be great to get some kind of automation setup, is this possible?

It's pretty much the reason I went for a discrete unit with no screen. I almost always forget it's even there. When I see a suction cup bright screen stuck in someone's field of view with wires trailing down in their way, that's when I start making assumptions about that driver :p
