Dashcams!

Yes because resolution is everything and YT don't compress video. Thanks for the input.

My 1080p videos upload fine, so do my friends gopro camera, as well as the 4k camera.

Clearly there is something odd going on if your just uploading from the raw output file. Guessing it's allowing you to select the best quality?

There's nothing wrong with how I am uploading, it's a 1080p 30fps file uploaded straight to youtube. It's compression.

He's not done anything wrong, and his video is representative of the general level of compression applied to YouTube videos, especially when the fast motion introduces more compression artefacts.

If you needed to send the absolute highest quality output from a dashcam (or any other camera) to someone else, you wouldn't use YouTube.

Watch the native 4k from your friend's Gopro aside the copy uploaded to YouTube. You'll see a difference.

Youtube sometimes takes hours/days for the very high quality version to show up at max resolution setting.

I've uploaded a lot of 1440P videos over the past 12 months and a lot of the time even though 1440P is selectable in the video, the quality of the video isn't how it should be only for it to update days later for some weird reason.

Merely replying to what he said initially, some people need to take a chill pill sometimes and that's hilarious coming from me :p

I really want a dash cam, want one that is discrete and draws power from the car. Does anyone know if there is any place that can install such a thing? Or easy to do...I am quite scared taking apart my car !

It's very easy, just get a small dash cam then hard wire it with something like this.

That's what I use with my Nextbase 402G and you wouldn't even know it's there.

To be fair your "lolwut" comment wasn't very helpful.

I forget people read far too much into things sometimes. My bad

Raymond: you could look at the Möbius, it runs on battery for several hours, otherwise it's just USB powered, it can be customised a fair whack also in terms of auto recording on powerup etc.

I've got a Möbius c2 and while it's not used for my car I use it on my quadcopter if you look at my related videos.

Folks, are any of the el cheapo ones worth a punt? I'm talking £20-£40 territory here?

I'm not expecting bells and whistles at this price point, or good night time performance but I'm tempted to pick one up for the heck of it, anyone got any recommendations for this price bracket?

The question is where is the 12v fuse box connection in the Volvo lol

edit - found the fusebox.

Now I need to find out which is the right socket.

The other alternative is I don't mind something that uses power from the ciggy lighter socket, I have a USB adaptor in there that feeds 2.4v.

Are there ones that uses that? As long as there is a long lead I think i can wire it around the car and be unobtrusive.
