Dashcams!

Thanks :)
I wanted to get it to look almost OEM, otherwise I would never install one. I'm a bit "James May" (or perhaps [TW]Fox) about my interior :p

The problem with the mobius and uber cheap ones is that getting it that neat, with a properly integrated mount is almost impossible.

I wired mine in like that. As Robbie said, just buy the bits on eBay for a few quid. I bought a right-angled USB cable though to make it as neat as I could.

Made up my fuse tap cable

Not quite as indiscrete as I'd like, but I couldn't get any closer to the mirror because the frankly unnecessarily-huge box that houses the sensors for the auto lights and wipers covers too much of the camera's image. It still covers a bit of the corner now but it's a good compromise.

I don't think you will do much better than that in terms of stealth/OEM look. Can I ask what model of camera that is?

Another great install Howard. :)

Thats very neat, but presumably you had to fit it off-centre to be able to view the screen. I never understand why you would want a screen though?
I never once had call to re-play footage whilst in the car, i just pulled the card when I got home and extracted the needed footage.

If you're witness to an accident it means you can play back the footage to officers at the scene without needing access to a computer.

Heard a story about a chap that was stopped by the police for doing 60 in a 40 and he was able to play back the video footage there and then with the speed tracking to prove he was indeed only doing 40.

Really nice installs above! :)

In that situation, I would pull out the SD card, plug it into my phone, and show them the footage on a nice big screen! :D

As I said in my post, I can't get any closer to the centre because the plastic casing enclosing the light / rain sensors obscures the camera's view. I can't put it below this plastic casing because it would be right in the middle of the windscreen. It has nothing to do with the fact it has a screen.

Ahh, I see. It does look to be a HUGE plastic bit! I suppose the steep angle of the screen does not help either, as you cant just mount it in-front of it without obscuring your own view.

I have to say, its probably the best e-prance install I have seen, bar the off-centre bit!

*Turns to look at my iPhone in disgust as it doesn't have an SD card slot* :(

Oops, well that sucks!

I watched that video yesterday of the 806, hence my post saying that at the moment that's the one I may go for, unless I get the more stealthier look and get the next one up above the B40, not sure yet

~Howard, doesn't your mondeo have always on cig lighter? in my 2009 focus front and rear are both always powered

It powers off 15 minutes of inactivity (doors opening or ignition being on) or locking of the car.

My old Mondeo's cig lighter was always powered but I just left the dash cam powered from that with no issues.
