They do, they would just prefer it if you didn't know about it.
No they don't - not even if the authorities obtain a warrant.

That's because terrorist attacks are occurring more frequently, on a larger scale and increasingly sadistic. In short, they're doing doing more damage to us.
Is this a new story or a recycled shock piece, wasn't this brought up about 3 months ago?
Always moaning at Tory voters. How short your memories are, remember the labour government? They wanted the same.
I don't understand why the big US tech companies don't want to help the security services stop terror attacks across the world?
Business Insider is clickbait. Show me a credible source please.
Agreed, utter rubbish.
Terrorism is rapidly becoming the world biggest excuse top break down civil liberties. Considering how little it actually affects us in daily life, rare and actual attacks notwithstanding, many of the measures are just unnecessary imo.
It's like they want to use tragedies for political means to force through unpopular legislation...
We have always been able, on the authority of the home secretary, to sign a warrant and intercept a phone call, a mobile phone call or other media communications, but the question we must ask ourselves is whether, as technology develops, we are content to leave a safe space—a new means of communication—for terrorists to communicate with each other.
Not entirely sure how this would happen? It's already illegal not to open encrypted files when ordered to. It's impossible to stop people from acquiring things, especially when the Internet is here.
And the timing of all these announcements are always VERY convenient. It's like they want to use tragedies for political means to force through unpopular legislation...

No it isn't lol. Yes there are other, older means of encryption that the bad guys could use but none as convenient as modern communications methods. The more complicated it is to encrypt/decrypt a message the the greater the liklehood of them making a mistake.
we need to punish the few. not the masses. remove organised religion.
It's a vicious circle. Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.
