DayZ - Standalone Thread

Rocket really needs to heavily promote this about 1 month before release and capture the buzz again. The player numbers have dwindled, people naturally move onto new games and lets be honest, there is currently no end game to keep a hold of people.

Dg stop pretending you have inside information regarding these matters, it's embarrassing :)

Seems to be similar feelings regarding the project: unhappy gamers

If its not ready, its not ready. It's like some people (reddit) have totally ignored what he has explained to be the delays at Pax, mainly hacking and realising they had to redesign most elements from the ground up.

I think people deep down know this, but have been hyped up for one reason or another and have been let down.

I do agree partially with what they say though and that is DayZ is what it is because it came out at the right time when no other "Zombie Sandbox" offered what it did. It has been a while since it originally came out and things have changed both for the good and bad with every patch.

In the end i am happy he is taking time with the SA, if it was someone like EA they would have pushed it out by now in the state of the mod just to cash in while it is at it's prime. So you know when it comes out it'll be the best it can be on the current engine, but he risks loosing players in the mean time.

If you look at the DayZ servers although they are still quite popular, it's not the same number that was around 3-6 months ago as quite a few people are waiting for SA to come out and a lot have left due to boredom. If left to long to bring out the hype will have dropped or someone else could have brought out something similar.

So we will have to see how it turns out, but i am looking forward to it just not as hyped up as i once was.

If you've got an issue with a moderator's decision, then drop them an email rather than be public about it. Why not do that during your holiday?

Once the server files are released for Arma 3, and there are more maps, I can see a DayZ mod of that becoming very popular. Stand alone Dayz is like the proverbial carrot in front of a donkey.

Like others have said, I don't think it will be here any time before Christmas at the earliest.

Yeah m8 I am really hoping DayZ gets ported or w/e it is that needs to be done to the mod to work on Arma 3. It will be epic

While waiting for DayZ and Arma3 wasteland mod to improve, sucks because there's nothing else similar to play after warZ died too.

I really enjoy Dayz and there isnt anything that compares out there yet, xbox are launching something similar that graphically looks like red dead, with a few interesting features such as house fortification and farming... ( State of Decay) but its not going to be on the same scale as dayz. When the standalone is released the additional features they are implimenting will be enough to make the game a completely different experiance, but still hold everything we love about Dayz.

I really want gaming to head into a more sandbox direction, personally I cannot stand the scripted story lines of this generation. Dayz really sparked my excitement again for the future of the industry, user generated content is the way to go.

But it is also for PC:

State of Decay is our ambitious zombie-survival open world game currently under development at Undead Labs for release on Xbox 360 / Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC.
