DC2 Integra drivers - 2 quick questions.

Prelude over all the above, can't believe how cheap they are at the moment. i just know i'm going to end up in another one in about a year - i keep changing cars and always hankering back to one because they're just so ridiculously good for the money.

Hate - you ever had that feeling at all since you got your celica, wanting to go back to the prelude camp

IMHO buy a good prelude for less than two grand, do some basic mods and you'll have a better car than an integra and for less money overall.

Also the dashboard rocks.

driven an ATR, ITR and a Prelude have you?

Why does the dashboard and general styling suddenly change when you drive a Prelude? Horrid things. Might be nice to drive, but still horrid in every other way :)

Aye, Some people do more than that in commuting, pansy...

600 miles is my work mileage on top of my commute but I realise some people do more. Hence why im looking at an ITR instead of a diesel golf or something.

They aren't horrid in every other way but they are a marmite car in terms of appearance. The dashboard is certainly 'interesting'.

I think they're nice places to sit - especially with the leather

Fox what is your deal with interiors? As long as the seats are comfortable and the wheel has adequate rake and tilt functions, I am happy.

When I drive I look through the windscreen to the road rather than at the interior...

It's where you sit. You touch it, you look at it, you use it. You spend much more time in it and looking at it than you do the outside. Therefore, to me, it's even more important than exterior appearance.

I agree that an interior is more important than an exterior, but I think the drive is even more important than the interior.

Can't say I spend much time looking at my interior although I know your car is very special to you :)

Do you close your eyes at traffic lights or something? Do you get someone to blindfold you before you open your door?

No and No.

But these two activities you mention take tiny ammounts of time, an insignificant percentage of my total drive.

So you must have tunnel vision then if you can't see the interior whilst driving?

Tunnel vision is a particular loaded phrase. I drove for about an hour earliar, I looked at my interior when I was at home, I set the climate control to the temperature I wanted, put a cd in and drove looking out of the windscreen towards the road and at the rev counter. I don't need to look at the cd player as I can control it from the steering wheel. The windscreen is mounted above what I would class as the interior. I can view it at the bottom of my vision, but as I am concentrating on driving it doesn't concern me in any way.

Reasonable idea, problem is when you come to sell it. You get less money back for an 'upgrade' and thats once you find a buyer.

If i wanted somewhere nice to sit I'd sit in my lounge.

If i wanted something to drive i'd get in a Honda VTEC.

I guess you have to blend your nice sitting and place to drive into your car as you still live with mummy and daddy :p

I don't know about anyone else, but the BMW's dashboard, to me, seems just the same as any other car out there. A pod for the gauges, some heater controls in the middle, and a large expanse of plastic on the passenger side.

The Prelude dash is something completely different. When the ignition is off, it's a simple design, the driver and passenger sides are identical. With the ignition on, the dashboard lights up in a sea of electro-luminescent displays, the passenger can feel more involved by being able to see the entire dashboard and all the indication lights, rather than them being hidden away only for the driver.

Not that I really look at the dashboard much when I'm in the car. I'm usually out enjoying it, throwing it round some country lanes, or just cruising along the motorway in comfort, just occasionally glancing down at the rev counter or speedo to make sure I'm not breaking the speed limit too much!

Oh, my, did I say enjoying a FWD car? OMG it's not RWD, however can it be a good car to drive??

And did I say comfort? But it's not a BMW, only a BMW can be comfortable!

Horrid? Well, I wouldn't want to drive an E39 because I don't like the looks of both the car and the interior. But to call it horrid? No. It's a nice looking car, but it's not to my taste.

Fox, you really need to realise that other people may like something different to you. I thought you had grasped that concept, but your posts in this thread are telling me otherwise.

was about to pipe in and say how i think the dash on a less than new BMW looks dated imo...

(Tho i'd say the prelude dash looks dated too...)

each to their own - no point him or anyone else going on and on about a dash - its subjective, and all opinion - which isnt really any use to the OP

Dont worry about me ive pretty much decided im going to have to take an ITR and a celica 190 out for a spin and see which suits me best.

And the all important issue of the quality of the materials and switchgear - the stuff you touch.

And did I say comfort? But it's not a BMW, only a BMW can be comfortable!

Never said that. Just said I think the Prelude interior is horrid, and I do. Looks nasty, the materials are nasty, the switchgear feels cheap.

As do you. I dont like the Prelude. I'm sorry if you think I am not entitled to my opinion, maybe you should try realising that other people may like something different to you

Because the guys expressed an opinion you yourself don't like, hypocritical much? Want me to call you a waaaaambulance? :p

Jesus, post a car, expect to get some negative feedback if it isn't 100% perfect, why do people take criticism on here so badly?

I'm with confused on this one, fox does tend to take the holier than thou position on things of late - and it reads to me as more than an opinion but generally putting other people down. I'm not saying it's intentional - but I see it too
