DC2 Type R owners please :)

Whats with all the pics of slammed DC2s with daft coloured wheels. Standard all the way!

When choosing a DC2 take your time to look and drive many, this is unless your buying one you know is good condition prior.

There are lots of not very honest DC2's out there, and your tick is to find a genuine one. When looking for mine I came across a 60k mile one with dodgy panels, and whinning gearbox, presume it has been clocked.

When you do look, make sure you look down the panels, catch everything in the light, make sure headlights line up, mismatched paint etc, also be aware of rust thats hidden in the rear sills. Don't be scared to ask question after question on phone else you will drive far only to look at lemons.

These are also old cars, and would not limit yourself to spec / colour, aim to get a good one.

Over 2 years ago I picked up a 99 UK in MR for 7,250 on genuine 28k miles, I had to drive 250 round trip for it however, I was very lucky car has been faultless, but as mentioned I looked at dogs also. Not all ITR's drive / handle the same, even if it looks good you have to drive it.

You need to take someone who knows ITR's to view with you, second best option is buy from ITR-DC2 and search on the forum for history of car. It's amazing what people reveal on for forums.

Also there are clocked DC2's around, my mate sold one that ended up in Ireland, 3 years later it was being sold on ITR-DC2 with less miles, and 2 more owners had owned it! The seller was not a regular and it appeared he did not know the history.

Final thing, try and get a standard one, if not standard not messed around with much. I got my tracking done at ABP Motorsport in Crewe, and was told not many standard ones around. Honda did a great job on DC2 in stock form, but few DC2 owners will experience a near new DC2 on the RE010's!

I have modded mine, just with H brace, rear OEM brace, spoon seat rail (lowers drivers seat), and Hankook RS2's (205/50 - not the noddy & big ears 195/50 everyone is fitting!), and better pads. Driving the car stock prior this is plenty to improve the standard car, after this all you need todo is keep ontop of servicing.

Amen Brother!
I regret buying a 182 Trophy instead of a DC2 UK in Championship White as they are absolutely epic cars. But have most now either been terribly modified or worn out?

Its the suspension setup that I would want as close to original as possible, what are the options with the dampers/springs -Ad- ?

great post by JasonM. spot on.

i looked 12-18months for a prestine example. only found one in that time, and it was snapped up within the day :(

itr-dc2 is probably your best bet for a looked after genuine example, many on there, just not many want to sell up... :D

They are out there but you will pay for it but if it holds the value it doesn't really matter!

Seems daft that all these people chose one of if not the finest handling car ever made and then ruin it by slamming it in the weeds!

there are many heavy track users on the owners club who have modified/lowered suspension setups on their dedicated track toys who see even greater responsiveness.

however for pure road use, i think the OEM setup is perfectly matched, indeed.

depends solely what sort of roads your driving...

Looks like its pretty hard to get a decent one these days. Still going to have a look come changing time. See what comes up.

Threads been much help, thanks guys. And sorry for slightly hi-jacking phate! :p

My mate took me out in his EK4 SIR tonight and i was seriously impressed and how well these little things pull in Vtec. Not far off from a DC2 TBH.

Have a search for MeisterR around the web. They seem like great products for very reasonable money. A set of Zeta-s at £500 or Honda OEM springs and dampers for a fair whack more and they don't seem like mad had coilovers either.

Jerrick seems like a good guy.

lol dude you caused more DC2 discussion, why would I care? :p

As someone who also has a modified / stripped track car (Vauxhall) - I get the feeling Honda took the stock setup as 'raw' as they could for a production car. It's certainly far more raw then almost anything made today. My car is on 45k now miles and the dampers are still working very well.

It's a very ballanced setup, when my car was 100% stock I could stick say it in a roundabout (big one) and rear wheel steer the thing, i only did this a few times mind, and don't like going that quick on the road.

Integra encourages you to be a better driver. If your not going quick enough around corners, time to wonder if it's your lack of skill or the car.

Year previous there was a Integra meet in Wales (EVO triangle), there was various Integras with different suspension mods and some stock - cars were going total warp speed into corners! My mate in his stock DC2 kept with the lot (he said only way to keep up was heal and toe), this is not to say you can't improve DC2 cornering (because you most certainly can), but regardless of mods, the better driver in a stock DC2 will take some beating.

There is my 96 Spec DC2... seriously great fun to drive! You will not regret getting one. If you are located near Woking, Surrey by all means come have a gander at mine :)

Mine is completely standard, although I'm looking to get some replica 98 spec wheels to replace mine as 3 out of 4 wheels are buckled lol. Damn potholes!

Mattbill can you make it to the meet on Sunday? be good to see you and have a nose around your Teg :)

Presumably you mean the 'ultramini surrey meet'?

If so, that pub is about 15 mins from my house so I can pop along and let you have a gander if you like dude? :)

ROTA R Specs from J @ rarerims. brilliant guys down there. highly recommend them, lighter/stronger than the originals too, rides lovely on them. :)

Looks awesome dude... would love rotation spec r's but bit pricey, so unfortunately it'll be Sprint replica for me! Heard good things about rarerims too.
