DDR2 in DDR3 slots

:mad:In all honesty if someone thinks a hammer and chisel are tools required for a pc build then they shouldn't be anywhere near a pc.

There are times however I have contemplated taking a hammer to a few old builds of mine, a very big one:mad:.

Don't joke, w3bbo. There is a chance - however unlikely - that somebody here who has just blown their entire student loan on a new system will take your 'advice...'

:crywithlaughterinanticipation:

w3bbo wishes

Is there any realistic improvement in performance with DDR3 over DDR2 ?

I mean in terms of DVD encoding/burning and gaming ? or is it just numerical ?

No. If you aren't overclocking spend the extra £150 - £200 for 4GB DDR3 v 4GB DDR2 on a faster CPU (encoding) and or graphics card (gaming).
