Ring your council, they should come pick it up and dispose of it. Don't throw it in a bin. Stick it in a bag, or cover it and wait for the council to send someone.
And people complain about council tax? It's only a cat - we don't need the council spending a couple of hundred of our pounds on it.

some would suggest pouring kerosene or petrol over it and you know ..... but that should only be done if it has burst and the smell is intolerable etc.... which is inevitable unless you do something in the next 24h or so...

Some of the advice given out here is just utterly moronic, joke or not this could be someones well loved pet. Just wrap it up and bury it, chances are the owner may be looking out for it, are there any signs up in the area with "missing cat" or such written on?. Hope your niece is ok.

I was reading through this thread looking for the "nuke" and "ovaries" replies, shockingly it has not been mentioned

Jokes aside, I would bury it. Treat it with a bit of dignity like the owner would have done. :)

Seconded.

It'll only end up being incinerated by the council otherwise. They won't do anything off their own back to 'reunite' it with the owners.

I had a post about ovaries but I realised I would get beaten down, so I edited it.
