Dead Rising

Any idea how to remove those stupid teddy/horse heads?
I put one on and now my character always has it on even when restarting lol, along with the small tight kiddies clothes my guy is wearing I don't exactly look much like a hero when turning up to save people.
rofl. In the security room under the staircase is a bunch of cardboard boxes. Go there and you can restore franks clothing back to normal. I had that problem too and eventually I got sick and tired of seeing cut scenes with him wearing that teddy head thing :o

The game does get easier and much more fun as you strive to get those achievements though. I haven't enjoyed a game like this in ages.

I thoguth this game was averagely bad until I reached level 20. Since then I literally have not stopped. From 5 hours in 3 weeks I have gone to 15 hours in 3 days. SO much more fun when you are faster / stronger.

My arms ache from playing too much!

Im struggling to bring myself to play to get to this point :(

I ended up finding a base ball cap, thank god. I was also sick of watching these 'Please take me seriously' cut scenes, except there's me in a space helmet/teddy head/horse head (yes I actually changed to a horse head first as I was sick of the teddy head).
I'm now level 15, I think I'm going to continue to just level up until my next life gain and then try the story once more, got a speed increase at level 13 and my guy runs so much quicker.
Here's how I'm leveling atm, finding it quite quick:
[possible spoiler?]
I get the Mrs Meyer from the beginning rooftop to the left, gaining me 5K PP. I then take her around to meet her husband. When they hug I take a pic which, if you position to their side, gets you 10K PP. I then grab the both of them which gets me 5K PP and take them back for a final 20K PP. All in all I get 40K PP right at the start. I go get killed and then save my status to do it all again.
[/possible spoiler?]

With the past couple of levels I've really started to enjoy it more, my guy can really handle himself now.

By what you guys say, DR sounds really fun... once you reach a certain level, but does the demo do the full game any justice? I've played the demo a few times, and really can't get into it at all!

I read a few places on here, that the demo doesn't do it any justice... so do you reckon that is the case? And how do you level up in the game? Just by killing 500 zombies? Or do finishing cases level you up?

Still RIGHT on top of the fence on this game... i'm start to fall on the zombies side, but still need a bit of convincing?

I feel the same way, having played the demo i was quite dissapointed, but i feel i will end up buying this game anyway, as everyone i know seems to recommend it.

You level up by taking pictures, killing zombies, performing "hidden tasks" like destroying random items, going on the rollercoaster etc. You also get PP for rescuing people, having people join your party and performing favours.

The start of this game is exactly like the demo, and if the demo bores you, so will the start of the game. As it progresses however it becomes better and better to the point for me that it has gone from being my worse game to one of my favourite games of all time!!

You eventually have a plethora of really nice melee attacks, can run really fast, kill zombies quickly and all previous frustration is removed.

The story is really in depth and very well thought out. The 'true ending' rocks and the game has a ton of replay value.

It's well worth every penny once you get into it, just don't let the first 5 hours put you off as it did to me for so long.

Just to finish this isn't just a mindless zombie smashing game. late on, stealth and cunning are required to overcome your enemies and you really need to think before you act if you are to succeed.

... snip ...

Cheers DeFrEaTs, that helps... cos it seemed like you where in the same boat as me... and a few other i have read said the same. Didn't like it at first, but after levelling up they love it!

When you say plenty of replay value... in what way? What do you get once you complete the game? Surely you will be back and the low level and have to do the annoying intial 5hrs (ish) you mentioned? Or can you replay the game on the level you ended the game on?

The excelent thing is, you keep your level and skills... even the clothes you have chosen to wear, and only lose the items you were carrying.

The replay value in the default 72 hour mode is the fact that you decide how to play it. The first time I ignored the 'main story' and chose to rescue survivors and defeat many psycopaths which actually follows a story of its own.

The way you follow the story defines the ending. Failing to complete certain tasks will give you one ending, while gathering all the evidence, piecing it together and getting to the hellipad for collection will give you the 'true' ending... without spoling anything, this opens the game to a whole new level.

After completing the game in certain ways you unlock new modes. Unlimited mode where you must survive as long as possible, and EVERYONE is against you, even other survivors, and overtime mode which is linked to the main story and I will not spoil for you.

Finally, if you like getting many achievements, you must perform some pretty fun tasks which I often start a new game to do.. things like defeating 1000 zombies barehanded is great fun. You are bound to miss certain easy achievements the first time round too, like photographing certain zombies that are part of the story, jumping a car / motorbike a certain distance etc, and its great fun to play through a few times to pick these up.

The only unlockables in terms of gameplay I have seen are the new modes and some rather swanky costumes which are unlocked by performing certain tasks. I am going to try now to rescue 50 survivors which I assume will mean I will skip most of the main story and I believe this unlocks more costumes :D

Fun fun fun!

Think you have put me on the zombies side of the fence now DeFrEaTs, think im gonna have to give the full game a bash... its only 40 notes after all :)

I think it works out to £34.99 on shopto.net if you make a new account, and they should have it with you for tomorrow. let me know what you think of it. I'm sure you will love it if you put some time into it in the right frame of mind :D

This game has a huge amount of replay value (on my 7th run through the game here) due to its achievments and the fact that you cannot do everything in one sitting - a mistake a lot of newbies make with the game.

I wasn't too keen on the demo myself tbh, because it was only one section of a very large mall. The DR storyline is what makes the game so enjoyable imo, its well written and the FMV looks utterly drop dead gorgeous. Mmmm isabella :D  :o

its taking AGES to level up, im level 7 now, the genocide run with the cars doesnt really level me up quickly :(

When do the swot team come?

Theres a book you need to hold while doping the genocide run thats gives you more PP for killing zombies (for the book she above - i posted a guide i found)

yer i know what you mean, its a really really satisfying game to play -esp when your wizzing threough the bosses with adams chaninsaws (fav boss - Sean, kill tons of yellow coats to get him, kill sean, kill a load more yellow coats, rescue 6 survivors - inc the one in the cupboard - and get a book that makes usrvivors more aggressive). hehe, kinda loving TDU at the min though :)

everyone says kill adam etc, but i cant even find adam :(

Hmm you keep positing this! He's quite early on in the game, before the japanese tourists but after the survivors in al fresca plaza. You get a scoop called out of control. Go to the ride in Wonderland Plaza and you'll find him.

Excellent tip for this game is to get a survivor and give them a submachine gun, there are times in the game when this is really handy, you just tell them to stand somewhere and they draw the zombies but have the firepower to defend themselves and dont run out of ammo. only downer is their kills dont go on your total
