I got this game yesterday! it arrived with the dead rising faceplate which is very nice!
and ive got to say this is the best graphics ive seen on my 360 and the game is class as well....
the only thing is when im saving survivors do i have to take them to the hatch thingy in the warehouse because all the doors are locked where ever else i go?

Afraid so from what I gathered from my few attempts at the game. (It's frustrating when working away from home so have to wait another 2 weeks just to play it again)

for those doing overtime mode i have a few tips
spoilers
basically you need to go and do a big shopping list of stuff, get a skateboard and peg it past the guards, stock up on health, once you have done that you need 10 queens, zombies with there hands in the air have queens inside them , you need to give 10 to isabella, before you give her the last one, stock up on weapons etc

once you do that and do the little bit, you get to a tank, which is easy, then have a fist fight with this fella, who i died from, need to have another go today

These a way to make those clown chainsaws last an eternity. You need the following three bookes; Criminal, Engineering and Entertainment.

It seems all three books cover the chainsaws. And when you put them together it works out as 3x3x3=27.

Yeah once you've got that, there is no need for most other melee weapons.

Takes some of the fun out of it though.

Here is how I am playing the game.

I start I try to follow the case file and pick up any survivours on the way. I also take pix as often as possible.

Eventually I die save and restart. I have done this twice now and am at lest level 10.

so far I have not yet competed the first case book. I have met the old man twice but never made it back - damb zombies too tempting.

Things I have learnt on my travels.

Books multiply certian weapons. Some weapons are effected by more than one book. If a weapon is effected by more than one book in your possession its performance is multiplied 3 times for each related book.

The guy that attacks you in the baracaded womans store some how always gets killed by my sledge hammer.

When escorting survivors look ahead for a safe spot and send them there. Arm them to the teath. Run back and forwards between them and their destination killing any zombies in their path or that are venturing too close.

IMO playing the game multiple times so far has allowed me to better learn the enviroment and what weapons to choose, as well as leveling my character up. I would easily prefer to restart the entire game and have the option to improve on my existing performance, and keep any PP I have earnt rather than return to a save that means I will have to retry a sub section of the game at a slightly lower level. I am certianly getting from place to place much faster and am more certian of my actions.
Things like having more slots or more health really make a difference. IMO if you die before the end of the first case it is certianly worth a restart.

Now i may be a no*b at this but you've got to bare with me, I am 35yrs old!!!!..

Having difficulty getting to grips with what to actually do, once you've been given a case to do, do you turn on the automatic locate arrow and just basically follow that to your next assignment, killing as many zombies along the way, or do you take time to visit the shops in the mall along the way too, collecting other weapons etc etc.
Ive read in this thread people talking about the gun shop etc, was this an assignment to go there, or did you visit there on route to the assignment, ignoring the location arrow?.

Its just confused me, not hard to do I know!. Do i follow the arrow to the assignment, or have a look around and collect on route??.

IMO do not worry too much about sucess of the missions (cases) or side quests (collecting surviours) at first. Just have a run around, figure out the controls and where the best items and weapons are. Do not be to worried about your death. Do try to scout out the missions so generally head in their direction, but this is more for practice when you do it later. Again if the opertunity presents itself at least speak to and take photos of the survivors. If they die whilst following you don't worry.

When you die save and restart. This will keep your PP and level/skills and offer you the oppertunity to successfully do everything again (and thus getting more PP)

Once you are compfortable with the controls and the locations of everything and what you are expected to do, then take the missions and side quests more seriously.

Currently I am on level 10 and I am yet to sucessfully complete the first case. I might save after that, I might just restart again, who knows.

You guys are going to have to enlighten me about whats so good about this game. Just trying through case 1 rescue brad or something. When i got to the food court the whole door was thick with zombies.

I can't target **** with the machine gun, wtf the aiming system is poor imho. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

So I died and now I have to restart?

You do if you didn't save (in the toilets).

When you do restart (you get the choice every time you die) you keep all your new moves and stats you've gained.

BTW. When you get to the food court, there's a lovely lawn mower there for mowing down the zombies in front of the door. ;)

tearing is quite bad on my monitor at times a few people have said try turning rez down as that helps altho i aint tried.

Ive almost finished my case missions now on level 19 i think need to get it up a bit more. Ive only saved like 5-6 people beat sean that cult guy and i got bored and tried to beat that fat lesbian copper got killed so aint tried since! Ill go back to it soon :D

I also found aiming a bit annoying but i changed the camera thing from the default to camera view i think it was from player view. Seems to have worked a lot better now!

Thanks I didnt even find any toilets :D

just started this and loving it, although having a few annoyances.

Went striaght the gun shop first time and no problems, it was empty but i died on the boss in food court.

second time i explored parking lot and died when the bike disapered.

third time i thought i would get bike the go back for guns then go food court, got the bike but this time the gun bar steward killed me!

I think when i die i should restart though, not keep reloading.

Make sure and grab the bottles of wine where the first boss is as they restore all your health :)

Nah, it's better mixing your own concoctions using the blenders in the food shops as not only will they fill up your health, but you get bonuses as well depending on what you mix.

..and destroy all of the plates on the wall near the entrance for an extra 30,000 odd PP ;)
