Dead Set On E4

Just seen it myself, with a couple of housemates, and thoroughly enjoyed it :)

Loved the zombie in the wheelchair, had us all laughing :D

and smashing of the zombie skull had us all screaming, lol.

That was great! Liked the whole no added dramatic sound track style of thing, which obviously didn't appeal to the OcUK ADD crew over here. Characters were developed quite well and I think the idea of having to work together to survive but hating each other is perfectly suited to the BB environment/setup...I'll reserve proper judgement till I've seen the whole thing though. :)

I expected this to be completely **** due to it being the first episode, but the storyline progression was good, bit of info about a few of the characters, straight to the point after that - not loads of crap BB stuff.

Shakey cam would have been ok if the IQ was better - was anyone elses ghosting like **** when the bird who had ran outside was trying to get the van etc, it seemed that until she actually got into the BB house the IQ of all the scenes with her in was appauling, ghosting galore etc.

Nope. Old school CRT TV for the win. :p

Much better than I expected. The shaky cam was a bit over the top, but its a trick that works and adds to the dramatic effect. The gore was particularly good and better than you see in many proper movies. Have to hope they keep it up for the rest of the run.

That's actually a final cut effect dude as far as I could tell. Absolutely terrible.. But yah, I enjoyed the ep :).

I actually quite liked the episode. It was a typical zombie scenario with quite predictable elements but I think the whole BB setting gives it something extra. Difficult to predict where they are going to take it next and how it is going to pan out.

The show producer had some genius lines in that episode too so I hope they dont bin him too soon.

I enjoyed it, tho the Big Brother angle is kind of played out now - they're just another bunch of survivors in a house. But zombie programmes are still somewhat of a rarity, so it's still going to be fun to watch.

i feared that, talk about **** idea.
Doesnt add to atmosphere, really detrimental to viewing experience imo!
Should have just copied BSG style shaky camera and left it at that.
I would imagine camera shots and pans/focuses in a BSG style would be BRILLIANT in a zombie flick.

It's probably one of the better things on TV at the moment that's produced in the UK, and I think it's up there with the best UK TV of recent years.

The idea of the show is homage to zombies. Sure, there's a bit of satire, that's not really intentional, but Brooker wanted to make TV nasty again. He loves zombies, and zombie movies, and this is his homage to that.

I liked it. It's a bit more brutal than you would see any other TV series go, and I like that. Plus all out zombie-fest to Mika = one of the funniest things I've seen.

That's how I viewed it too. A touch of satire, plenty of harshness, the odd comedic moment. Captured your average Big Brother moron stereotype very well.

Looking forward to the next episode.

I really enjoyed it. I actually found bits of it quite scary and disturbing too, which is quite rare for a recent zombie film in my opinion. The only one that's had a *serious* effect on me was 28 weeks later.

everynoe should be glad that we're producing some more of our own stuff anyway tbh... film4 hardly ever lets us down, we could do with some quirky little tv shows - beats them curning more reality tv out. Id hazard a guess at the ratings being quite high for dead set, though I imagine if it was on c4 they would have been higher(i only realised it was on due to going on the c4 website to see if i could OD the teenager bodies thing 10mins before it started..)
