Dead Space 3 - Thread

It turned up now all £34.99 of it  (just as well the included DLC needs activating by 14th Feb or you lose it forever ) loving it so far its at least as good a port as Dead Space 2 & the ingame transactions are just a time saver they are not required especially with the several exploits which are not being patched out either so that Visceral Games VP has really hurt the chances of this on PC especially as its another solid port & decent Dead Space title but I doubt the majority of the PC crowd will do what I did & buy regardless as most will wait for 75% sales or skip altogether  Shame but I doubt it would ever have hit the 5m EA wanted to continue the series that's wishful thinking this series has limited appeal you can only make so many IMO.

Exactly! Instead of bringing back the same titles again and again I'm a big advocate of something new instead

Not quite as creepy as the first one, but better than the second. Some nice lighting effects in places, human enemies are not spoiling the game at all, Hope its not the last we will see of Isac

It's a stunning looking game. The space scenery when you look out of the windows really gives you a feel of being in space. It shows that a lot of effort and polish went into the game.

Really enjoying it so far and glad it's not as creepy as the first.

It is creepy but I suppose you just get used to the atmosfear. The same happens to all games as a series continues resident evil 1 scared the bejesus out of me Resi 2/3 did not,
an EPIC game none the less, hope the DLC comes to PC this time

You're an advocate of developers and publishers diluting a game to attract a larger audience? No wonder the survival horror is essentially dead now.

Depends what you like in a game. Resident evil 1 with its awful controls and crappy camera angle is what some would call survival horror. I played that game to death when it came out as did most, but I can't see a game as restricted in movement being as enjoyable now, just frustrating. Rose tinted glasses anyone?

Does the story follow on from dead space/dead space 2 or can you just jump in play dead space 3? Having not played the others...

In the options there is a "Previously on dead space" option that brings you up on the story.

Never finished 2 so no idea if it carries on or not.

The story does follow on from the first 2 games, but there is a Previously on DEAD SPACE feature which explains what is going on, but I Would play the first 2 games in order before this one, they can be had cheap most of the time.

Its just a natural for the game to evolve, it would seem a birt daft if we just had the same hero dumbly plodding around as in the in the first game.
the character has to evolve along with the story otherwise it would go stale.

Just got this yesterday and have played until you arrive at the planet. Absolutley loving this so far. The story, atmosphere, visuals are all outstanding. I've played both Dead Space 1 & 2 and never got round to finishing them but this one I will see through. It is a bit action heavy, switched to hard as normal was a walk in the park but overall would highly recommend. a lot of people may be put off by microtransactions but these are just for kids to cheat like buying the DLC in Deadspace 1(as i done by accident lol)

I am big fan of DS series. finished 1 & 2 two times and played second time both parts with "saves" to continue with all upgrades I had..

2nd time I played decided to go with Xbox360 joystick and 42" HDTV + 5.1 in living room and it was great experience.

Going to get 3rd next week and looking forward to it- especially co-op.

This is a quite superb port one of the best in the last few years its technically flawless runs very well & has 3 pages of gfx options. Ignore the microtransactions they are just if you want to cheat/speed up the upgrade progress but a complete waste of money when you can use a trainer to do the same thing for free ;)

Its a superb looking game as well I would go as far to say it has one of the best deferred lighting engines ever made right up there with Alan Wake & for a DX9 only title it looks quite amazing before you even play around with Sweet FX it looks great on stock with max everything.

The only downside I have found so far is the gameplay is getting a little stale its pretty limited but the atmosphere & excellent gfx help carry you through the sound is also very good & if you like futuristic Blade Runner style sci-fi environments this is the game for you it has several scenes which could have been taken straight out of Blade Runner ;)
