Dead Space dissapointed

Up your mouse sensitivity and your experience should be better, there's no need for a 360 pad.

I felt exactly the same when i started out, then i disabled vsync and upped mouse sensitivity. Ploughed through a few levels more and it become natural.

Good game, looking forward to the sequel.

Loved the use of sound in the game, thought it was really good at keeping you on edge. One of the few games I actually preferred on the xbox.

Fantastic game, and the camera angle adds a lot to the game.

Plus I'm glad that they didn't make Isaac 'crack wise' with each necromorph he stomps.

No, but it's no more realistic to have him never say a word throughout the whole game. At the very least you'd have expected a string of terrified curses from time to time :)

Even with vsync enbaled through CCC and maximum mouse sensitivity, the controls still felt far too sluggish for me. Might try it with a controller. Unfortunately for me, EA games like Sims 3, Dead Space lockup my PC with any ATI drivers more recent than the 10.4s.

Im pretty sure he screams on some of the more brutal death sequences. I never liked watching my isaac getting chewed up so i didnt try. He has a voice in the upcoming one

Gave it a quick whirl once, found the camera angle and controls really pathetically bad and never went back. I mean quake did it years ago not like its hard to make a game with a decent camera angle and fluid controls.

The camera 'issues' are deliberate, the camera angle is always centred on his back so you cant see behind yourself(as in real life :P).

finished it once it was released. One of my favorite games, enjoyed all hours of play+ it was very scary in places when played during night,

however agree on CONTROLS, same as RE5- pain!

Installed back today, will have second go before DS2, will try advise on Vsync OFF to see if mouse response is better!

Dark room and either headphones or a surround sound system cranked up is the only way to play deadspace.

I upped the mouse DPI sensitivity on the fly using my logitech g9. I guess you might not be able to do the same unless you have a gaming mouse.

Re-bought it during the sale as I sold the boxed copy I bought on release.

Unfortunately though it just freezes after a few seconds in the menu, even on a clean windows install.

Got any controllers plugged in?

Off topic (ish)

I have a problem with my Black Widow joystick. I bought it to play Wings of Prey which I obtained in the steam sale but everytime i try to start the game (or any game for that matter), whilst the joystick is connected, they crash at startup :(

Do you have a solution? I have un-installed my xbox 360 controller and its drivers just in case that might have caused conflict, but that hasn't helped.

Cheers.

Never even heard of the Black Widow joystick :(

Dead SPace can have menu lockups with certain controllers, easy way to test is unplug it, if it stops the lockups then there is a file that can be edited to remove the controllers from dead spaces viewpoint.

I started playing this twice. Uninstalled both times because the mouse lag is ridiculous even with vsync off, and the movment is so slow it's painful. The camera is also a pain in the arse. Will be holding off on Deadspace 2 until I know these things are fixed and that it isn't just another shoddy port.
