You can buy it again, but you just have to make a space available in your inventory by putting one of your other weapons in the store.

I've never actually felt that I've been running out of ammo for any of the weapons since it seems like the right ammo pops up whenever I need it.

Should probably have said that this isn't an option, PC is too big bulky for the TV room, had it hooked up with a VGA cable for a while but also got buggered off with wireless keyboard batteries failing, mouse not being charged cos I forgot to leave it on the charger, that kind of thing. A PC needs a desk to use comfortably.

Or do what I did and get 2:D

1 PC for gaming & hi-def media only the other PC for web surfing and occasional gaming when a mouse is required.

Yeah you can buy it again but it would be pretty useless without upgrades at the stage I'm at.

The problem is that contact energy only drops 1 at a time, so if you only use the contact beam you will always run out of ammo. Compare this to plasma cutter ammo which drops 6 at a time... its a little biased.

The game is basically set up so you can sell your weapons to buy more powerful ones as you progress... but I have been punished for doing so.

I love the game though, just a little niggle.
 
i pretty much only used the plasma cutter and machine gun all the way through.

I carried the contact beam for any huge nasties, its alt fire mode is great if your surrounded.

Finally i carried the flamethrower for those little bugs which sometimes burst out of the belly of the big fat enemies when you kill them.
 
Don't like the way that the only effective way of killing the enemy (without wasting massive amounts of ammo) is by blasting off the limbs, it's a pleasing novelty at first, but later on it becomes a little tedious and a couple of well positioned blasts to the head should be more than adequate.

Its not really a novelty, the nectomorphs are not human so traditional ways of killing don#t apply to them.
 
Been playing this game for a good few days now. I must say it scares the hell out of me but I cant stop playing it. Only played it on my laptop which has a 8400 128mb beast in it, cant wait to max it out on my main GTX rig.

Tryed it with the 360 control but I just cant seem to aim with it so im sticking to the mouse and keyboard.

Well worth playing.
 
For anyone who has completed the game take all the first letters of each chapter name and see what they spell :D

I'm playing at 1680x1050 on a 7800 GT, using low settings.

Game is smoothe and looks good. Obviously no bloom, shadows, etc, but that doesn't even bother me :) Would rather have the FPS boost.

More tips for new players: the flame-thrower is almost useless. Avoid! And seconding the guy who said "don't sell the plasma cutter"!

I posted that a few pages back too, very smart isn't it? :P

I tried to spoiler it, but it didn't work and I think I ruined the game for one guy, oops, sorry.

I have to say though, the acting on this game is sublime. It's the little things that makes it brilliant, like when they were trying to open up coms at the start of the game, and they tried to boost the signal, just the way it was done, his hands were lifelike, it's hard to explain.

"Boost the signal" and his hand opens up and efortlessly points to the control panel.
"More" then his hand flicks up a fraction when sayin that.

It's the little things that I notice, and this game is ripe with little things :P

I sold my line gun coz I was broke and wanted to try the Force Gun - which I then sold to try the flame-thrower.

I'm notorious for making really bad decisions in these kind of games tho :D

I've killed 99.99% of everything with the plasma cutter. Old Faithful, I call it now.

Ha ha. I actually have another Alienware as well which sits in a cupboard as not needed right now and no space to bring it out as downsized from a house to flat with limited space (credit crunch casualty:eek:)!!
