Dead Space Is Awesome!!

Stereo is excellent for me (Xonar soundcard) - very atmospheric and spacial/surround as you'd expect.
+1. yep have the same setup feeding my Xonar D2X into a THX 5.1 Receiver via Optical then Headphones out sounds amazing:D

10 minutes into this game and I'm very close to changing the colour of my underwear! I thought the original Resident Evil was creepy but this is 100 times creepier. Think Aliens. Then think 10 times scarier Aliens. You're then somewhere near what this game is like.

Waiting for the Mrs to come home now before I continue on! Yes I am a wuss!

As good as the graphics are it's the sound that really makes it for me. There are a few places in the game that I really don't wanna visit again 'cos the sound is so creepy and disturbing. Not necessary scary as such but just unwelcoming.

Makes me wanna stick on a 'My Little Pony' dvd afterwards to chill out. :p

Shame, Looks awasome and my type of game. Unfortuantly my HTPC with a 40" sammy only has a 8600gts, probably wont cut it at 1080x1920?

My PC upstairs has a 8800gt, will this be much better, will only be playing 1440x900 upstaires.

edit- 42" and looked and played very well, going to play it on my gaming system - will bring the pc down to the TV room this weekend when the wife isnt in.

Only into chapter two, but I think this is a fantastic game. The engine is very slick, and as others have said some very good use of sound effects.
My only niggle is a lack of AA and the vsync/mouse issue. D3DOverider as someone suggested fixed all that, and its also great for other games were I want to force vsync like FSX.

Brilliant game, very glad I got this!

Fraps is your best bet imo.

Okay what I though thank you.

Also I have to say that like the thread title implies this game is awesome!
At chap5 at the moment and I loved it till now, good idea and ambiance sound is really well done, it scares the crap out of me !!

I wish WAR could be so fast to load: Launch game, continue --> in game in less than 10sec...

started playing this on friday, only chapter 2 so far, but im playing a load of other games too ;)

not really used to the 3rd person view, seems a bit dodgy.
Runs so nice on my HP laptop at 1280x800, wouldnt handle the full 1680x1050 at high settings :(

I think it's the fact that:

No Lights On and it's evening (so basically pitch black apart from the screen)
Headset on loud
Having the spine of a jellyfish

If you have the above then it will scare you!

haha that sounds awesome, going to play like that through rest of the game, just done Chapter 2 ;P

Finished this last night, superb game, one of my faves of the year by far.

Going to replay through again and try out some of the weapons I never even touched this time through (did the entire game using just Plasma Cutter (my fave), Pulse Rifle, and Line Gun).

I like how you can start again and keep all the stuff you've aquired on your first run through

Almost every Dead Space post from gamers on every forum is very positive yet the reviews which are favourable do not always reflect this. From what I have played so far I would say that the game is better than the reviews indicate.

Action horror is a difficult genre to do well.

ok so im thinking of getting this game but need some answers.

All this talk of mouse lag (mwith Vsync) and lack of AA.

how about using a Play Station 2 controller (via USB adapters)?
Can i enable (or forcre) AA with ATI X3870 in crossfire?

how much on Steam?

You can use vsync, just not the in game vsync.

AA doesn't work at all.

Don't think it is on Steam.

Used the same weapon load out as me hex:D

Just seemed to work so well I never needed the others :D

Plasma Cutter for precision limb slicing, Plasma for all the fast little things and fall back weapon, and Line Gun for mass slicing and instant leg removal :D

question regarding the secondary fire of the plasma cutter, does the gun do more damage if you have it in vertical and get all 3 dots on them? or can u put it in horizontal to make aiming easier and still get the same amount of damage?

For the mouse problem I just went into C:\Users\*your username*\Appdata\Local\Eelectronc Arts\Deadspace folder and edit the settings text file (that's for Vista, XP will be a slightly different location but just look inside the application folder for Deadspace). Changed the line to Control.MouseSensitivity = 1.2, seems just about spot on for my mouse.

With the secondary fire on the plasma cutter I don't think you will see any more damage, I think it is just depending on how creatures limbs are orientated so you can hit more limbs in a horizontal line instead of vertical.

Haven't found a way of zooming in and out from the guy, mousewheel would have been nice for that :)

No AA at-all!!!

Now i played Bioshock without AA and it looked really bad.

Il be running it @ 1920*1200 ....not even a ATI AA patch or something???
