Dead Space Is Awesome!!

Just started playing this last night, Enjoyed the 1st 20 mins - will take me a while to get used to the camera - its literally on the shoulder :p

I think Yahtzee has a poo PC or he played it on console because the atmosphere on the PC version is so much better with better gfx and resolution!
Gfx and res won't make up for what becomes a stale game later on though. It becomes as repetitive and predictable as Doom3 was tbh and I was so glad it had ended. The very last scene though...that almost sent my iphone to the floor as I rang a mate to tell him I'd finished it :o

Overall, yes a very good game mainly because of the nicely presented scares at the start-mid sections of the game.

i need a break from this game, started having nightmares last night... >_>

not good to look to into a horror game, watch the 80min animation of it, and just reached chapter 9, its not as shocking to play now, but its almost like im losing it...

Would be very interested how any ATI owners got D3D Overrider tool to work as for me it keeps crashing to the desktop and will not launch the game until disabled so I cannot use the trick to force vsync via that instead of ccc.

Updated: Found the solution disable: Enable Load Library Hooking

Update2: Another superb benefit to this is that with CCC + ingame vsync disabled & D3D Overrider controlling Vsync the load times are now almost instant. Looks like there is a serious bug somewhere in Vistas as both Pure & Dead Space benefit greatly from ingame vsync disabling!!

I've disabled the ingame vsync, but where do you disable vsync in CCC? and do I need to re-enable vsync in CCC when I play a different game?

Hey I'm playing this on my PC but using my PS3 controller, now when I connect it over USB and run the program that allows it to work I can play the game fine but when I connect it over bluetooth I have to semi configure it with PPJoy which for some reason, even if you set all of the buttons how you want them it still does the default actions as well as what you've told it to do. It's annoying because the program you use to connect it over bluetooth allows rumble and the wired one doesn't, not to mention how much easier it is to play without a wire in the way.

Anyone else doing this and found a way around it? Please no one suggest a 360 controller because that isn't an option. I really need a way to stop dead space using its own controls.

Edit: After hours of searching I found something in case anyone else would like to change the controls. (I looked for ages before posting)

Doesn't even work :(

There is one caveat that PC users will have to be aware of, which is that the mouse and keyboard configuration is vastly inferior to that of the gamepad. For instance, if you want to aim and fire a weapon, you have to hold both the right mouse button and then press the left mouse button. Switching to alt-fire involves hitting the middle mouse button and then firing with the left mouse button at the same time. The same is said for using your kinesis and statis powers, as you hold the right button to aim, then hit a separate keyboard button to use them. The result is a cluttered mess of buttons that you have to constantly hit, which isn't nearly as responsive as plugging in the Xbox controller and blasting away with the triggers

Is that really as nightmarish as it sounds?

I refuse to play it with a fiddly console joypad btw.

At first i thought sod this, plugged in 360 controller and got the game going.

But i did try the kB/ mouse and after giving it a good go, it is better than the 360 controller in MY opinion

You have to learn the controls , but when you get them right its well worth it for the accuracy alone

In 3D section of CCC go to All Settings and set the performance slider to Performance=Always Off.

Finished it, thought it was great. However, i'm not impressed that in order to use the military suit on impossible mode i have to play through the game again on medium in between. I want to play on medium, get loads of stats/guns for the achievement points then play on impossible for the challenge and actual fear of dying due to having no health packs and near-impossible enemies every 30 seconds. Not play it on medium again for good measure just in case i'd forgotten how to play it.

I think this game is awesome. So much atmosphere and the graphics are brilliant. One thing i will say though is that sometimes, you just know a monsters coming round the corner or gunna get up off the floor.

Theres plenty of jumpy moments to nearly cancel that out though.

i've stopped playing this for the last few days :( dont know whats wrong with me lol, might be fear?

stopped half way through collecting nav cards on chapter 10
