Dead.

Shame, im not far from Brum, id of just thrown a working PSU in it to see if it fired up.

just have a look at a diagram for a 24pin PSU connector and see which voltages should be coming out of which lines and test with a multimeter.

Edit: Heres one, most of them are grounds anyway so its pretty easy to test:

Tested rails and all fine.

I have just noticed with everything back connected and power on that there is a faint flashing from the pwr led on the motherboard. Much dimmer than usual and hardly noticeable but a consistently timed flash nonetheless. What could this indicate?

Yes your other hardware would work with that and its a good choice to be fair, however, im pretty sure the XTs dont come with a cooler, so you would need one for socket AM4 too.

Check the compatability list for the motherboard you are interested in too see if it will be happy with your RAM.

This is my current cooler, would this suffice?

Not sure if this photo thing is working.

+5v SVB (Standby rail) purple wire, is that reading 5v when you have it all connected? It could be a power good issue, but it seems like there could be more to it.

What happens if you try to power the board/CPU/RAM (1 module only) only, outside of the case?
