It's been recently revealed that Deadpool will be coming to PC afterall, some of the best news this year!

Info:

Deadpool will be a spectacle fighter/third person action game that will be running on the Unreal Engine 3 (so you know it's going to run at like, a million FPS!). The dudes behind the recent, highly praised Transformer games are developing it and Marvel, Blizzard and Activision are doing the rest. Former Deadpool comic writer Daniel Way will be writing the script and story. Deadpool will be a combination of melee and shooting, with huge emphasis in Big Hammers, Sai Blades, swords and guns. Deadpool will frequently break the fourth wall and verbally interact with the player based on their skill and progress. For instance, in the options menu, he will begin to tap the glass of the television set, before asking, “Hey, got any girls in there?” Deadpool has the opportunity to directly address the player, where he tells them to press a certain button to do certain commands. When presented with the right combination of platforms, he wearily suggests new moves, such as the novel idea of ‘wall jumping’. Deadpool will be true to his name with brutal acts of violence mixed seamlessly with epic comic relief like yelling “No guts no glory!” when hanging from his entrails and so on.

Characters:

It will feature Deadpool himself (duh!)

There are plenty on Metacritic, verdict is that the gameplay is passable and the story/humour is the selling point, what was to be expected really. :p

So the movie is a go? Ryan had better either accept never taking the mask off, or he'd better shave his hair off and get some make-up done to fit the role. Last thing we need is a fantastic/funny film ruined by a pretty boy actor who was afraid to get his hands dirty. :o

Hi
Has anyone see a cheap steam key for this?

thanks:)

Cheapest I've seen is £26, gonna hold off personally as I hear the game only has around six hours of a campaign.

This is truly awful :o The combat system and gameplay is just so bad....... if you love hordes of enemies being thrown at you and smashing 2-3 buttons non stop watching a guy take non stop knifing/stabbing and 200 bullets and then having to run away half the time to regen the health, rinse and repeat then it might be the game for you! :p

But the humour and cutscenes, script etc. is great, only reason I am still playing, tbh might just be better of watching someone else on youtube play through the game :p :o

Why all the hate? Game seems a lot better/harder than most single player rubbish.

You don't know a single thing about Deadpool himself, do you? The fact the player can even die is turning Marvel canon right on its head. Also, if you're taking 'non stop' stabbings and 200 bullets, you should get off easy mode. ;)

Disgusting.

?

I do know deadpool very well ;) I am only a huge super hero/marvel/DC fanboy......

As I said, the game itself i.e. gameplay is **** but the script and deadpool himself etc. is superb. With regards to the regen comment, I know that deadpool can regen., however, with regards to this game, it gets tedious when you have hordes of enemies thrown at you (who take forever to kill.....), run in, throw out a 100 combo, run away, wait for regen, rinse and repeat.

Not talking about myself taking that damage, I am talking about the enemies taking that amount of damage...... You would think that they would be dead with a couple of shotgun blasts and 2 slices from my katana's but nope it takes way more to kill them....

Emulating a comic book game is always hard, though. From what I've seen the balance is nice, you can go on easy and get an authentic experience or go on hard for more of a challenging experience.

Isn't that what the majority of games are like though? Gears of War, Uncharted etc., its all about getting stuck in, doing as much damage as you can and getting out and away to get your health back (although it doesn't make sense the characters can do that in those games). At least with Deadpool it makes sense :p although tbh, the game should throw unpredictable and difficult enemies at you and let you survive with skill rather than the grind. I would place Deadpool in the spectacle fighter genre along with Devil May Cry etc. so really, they should have had less shooting enemies and more visceral melee combat, the dudes with machine guns can mow Wade down in 4 or 5 bullets on hardest, which does take from both gameplay and realism, he should be near bulletproof.

Gameplay looks solid though, no idea why people are complaining. The Last of Us is a good example, 100 ratings in reviews yet the game has zero innovation as far as gameplay goes, it's just solid. The combat is about as varied/innovative as Ninja Gaiden and you never hear anybody complain about that game. :p

By logic though, 6/10 is a fair score for the game... but that's a logical score, not a review score. We all know anything thats below 8/10 is generally panned as being ****. If a 5/10 is average, than 6/10 is decent, and that's what the game deserves.

True, the only super hero games that I have truly loved have been the batman games, most of the spiderman games and the punisher!

Personally I don't like really hard games, to me it just isn't enjoyable experience, you just end up getting frustrated all for 5 seconds of relieve/satisfaction :p Hence why I always play on normal! :p I don't find the game difficulty to be a problem at all with deadpool, it just feels like a chore to play.

Yes, but those are nowhere as bad from my experience, hardly ever had to worry about health and you could use cover etc. with those games, with deadpool, the guns are weak as **** and the only real way of doing damage (in a quicker way) is by using the melee/swords so you have no cover and have to keep doing, 50-100 combo, run, hide, wait every few minutes.

And plus those games mixed it up slightly with the gameplay, so far this is literally how I describe it, you smash 2-3 buttons non stop, run, hide, wait and that is pretty much it, oh with a few jump and find stuff sections included! :p

The script, deadpool character, cut scenes etc. make this game, if it weren't for them, I would have stopped playing after 15 minutes! :p

Now compared to similar games i.e. devil may cry, I enjoy them far more as they just feel better and do the combat system etc. a lot better imo. I personally don't think combat fighter style of gameplay was the right move for this game, a mix between the punisher and wolverine game (which I very much enjoyed, the combat/gameplay just felt better) is what it should have been imo. The damage system for both deadpool and the enemies needs to be adjusted as at the minute, the enemies can take far more damage than what deadpool can.......

With regards to the last of us, haven't played it myself since I don't have a PS 3 :( but watched shosho's play through on youtube and the game looks phenomenal, not so much because of the gameplay (it looks solid though, bit of stealth, good gun play, survival system etc. it reminded me a lot of tomb raider) but because of the characters (the main star being Ellie), plot, script and especially the ending, it was truly special imo.

As for ninja gaiden, been a long time since I have played that so can't remember it that well :o But I do remember getting frustrated with the combat system a fair bit! But everything else about it was great.

It is also disappointing that the graphics are pretty damn poor for a 2013 title.....

Spiderman started to suck after the PS1 generation though, but completely agree with Punisher, those executions were amazing!

With the exception of spectacle fighters though, no single player game takes skill. So when a game like CoD keeps sending you back to the last checkpoint, don't be bothered about it just grind on until you get lucky, it's what games like those are designed to be like. You have games that take intelligence and knowledge like Dark souls, games that take luck and grinding like COD and games that take reflexes and skill like Devil May Cry.

Skill outside of multiplayer is pretty much confined to one genre.

Probably not on easiest no, but in Gears of War/Uncharted for certain, you'd have a few seconds of shooting until your screen was bright red and you had to pop back in cover, same thing in this really (a mistake though, IMO, should be like Prince of Persia and just have Deadpool be unkillable). But it's nice from a pure gameplay perspective that they added in some actual difficulty. Disagree on the guns though, completely. I've played it round a mates and the guns are far, far stronger than melee, and that's on hardest. A headshot from the pistols will take the thugs out no problem, a charged up cable laser thing will one shot next to anything in the game from a headshot. The SMGs have enough firing speed to destroy groups and the shotgun... well that does suck! :D

To be expected though, really. :D

Yeah I agree with that, it would have been very good if done right but it wasn't and is just run of the mill solid but not great as a result. Spectacle is the best genre for it, but if they can't nail that which they couldn't, it should have been... well idk tbh, given the fact DP is known for his sword/gunplay, a spectacle fighter seems like the only option. :p

Wolverine was a spectacle fighter though btw.

A very good game, but horribly overrated. Like you said though, solid gameplay + good story, similar to Deadpool. TLoU is an 8 at the most whereas DP is 6 for gameplay and overall a 7 imo.

Average player of average skill couldn't get past the second stage on easiest from what I remember, that was probably it. :D

Console porting at it's finest.

Still, looks better than Skyrim did for it's time and you never hear a peep about the graphics in that. :D
