Dear Steam, please obtain the PC versions of Final Fantasy VII & VIII

Unless something has drastically changed since i last played FFVIII, the only indicator you need as to when to 'trigger' the gunblade is the image of the weapon hitting the target... rumble would only help if you weren't actually looking at the tv, and even then you can HEAR when to press the trigger.

Pretty much the reason why I use it, because I don't have to look at Squall attacking on the TV and can just listen to it. It was gimmicky, but the rumble helps to know I done it properly. And I always junction Squall with Death magic to his attack, so he is a character I always use for regular attacks, and of course his weapon is right for it.

The on-screen Renzokuken is pretty easy for me as that is when I actually pay attention, but I also like to "feel" that the trigger hits were successful.

I played FFVIII on the pc recently and trust me its much better as a beloved memory, I loved the game when it first came out and still hold fond memories of it but playing it again was nothing like I remembered it and it looked awful.

Now if they were to make a remake of VII or VIII that would be something special.

Would be good but not likely to happen any time soon if ever.

FFVIII is on the Playstation Network store in the US/JAP and will be in the EU store by the end of this month apparently.

Aye, there is a load of games i want redone in better graphics, like Dark Forces 2 in Jedi Outcast graphics, FF8 as stated, they would sell and the money they make from them would be beneficial, just curious why they don't consider doing it.

Doubt the PC versions of FF7 or FF8 will ever be re-released. They'd need some serious updating and fixing up to work properly out-of-the-box on modern hardware (FF7 in particular), and I'd imagine the source code needed to achieve that is long gone now.

The Sephiroth "One Winged Angel" track is missing the vocals regardless if you have a good soundcard or not.

Yep - the vocals only work if you happen to own a AWE32 or AWE64 sound card.

Truly. The amount of support generated for a FFVII remake by that tech demo alone would warrant a very profitable remake - can't be particularly difficult to do, since the entire game's there already, and they're guaranteed to make a mint. I've always said that I'd buy a PS3 just for that if it ever came out.

Even if Square-Enix wanted to remake FFVII, they would probably want to finish of with remakes of the old school ones with FFV and FFVI left, before they eventually get there.

Just play them both on an emulator. I just finished FFVII again on ePSXe and it runs better than the PC version. Only takes 5 minutes to set up and apart from the battle swirls it runs flawlessly. Plus you don't have to put up with the horrible MIDI music.

I disagree. While the earlier games were undoubtedly popular enough to make the series legendary, FFVII is the iconic game, at least for most people. I'd wager that even without the tech demo, people would want FFVII remade more than any other Final Fantasy game.

Most of the hype of FF7 is due to the band wagon. I would say most people who rave on about it being all this that and the other probably didn't play it at release or even at all and the wagon gets bigger.

I'm not saying it isn't a great game (my personal 3rd favourite) I just think it's way overhyped by people who in many cases I imagine have never played it.

Well FFVII was the first Final Fantasy game for a lot of people and who never played the earlier SNES games so it's no surprise it gets so much attention and hype.

Battle swirls work fine for me :D

Even looks much better via emu except for the text :D
