Game discussion, hints and tips BUT please use spoiler tags for any story elements for the cheapskates like me waiting to blag it for under 50 sheets!

(:

Have just picked this up for less than £60, happy with that :)

Will give it a whirl later. Loved the first game, one of the few I’ve played through twice. No Pro here though, but I’m sure it’ll still look great.

It's meant to be very good on the base model too ; the Pro basically helps reduce the need for DRS. Other than that they are almost identical.

Downloaded it yesterday but haven’t had a chance to play yet. Suspect I won’t get much time to dive into it properly for a few months but that’s fine with me, going to savour it.

Reviews I’ve skimmed over sound like it’s a strong follow up, and I loved the first. Happy days.

It's unbelievable really how good this game looks. Runs flawlessly too.

I was bored to tears during the first act too lol, but since progressing from there it's definitely picked up and I'm quite looking forward to see where it leads me.

Amazing that it can look this good on such old hardware. It looks as good some of the best games that run on a 5090. Great improvements made to the game too. Glad I bought it.

I wasn't expecting it to be so similar to the first game. I'm still loving it and all the weirdness but you are doing a lot of the same stuff but with lots of quality of life improvements. Maybe it'll change it up a bit more further in when all the named actors start showing up.

Yes, very similar, although the weather and night/day effects are pretty cool. Seems like more of an evolution of the first that I am fine with tbh.

I got part way into DS1 and have never been back to it.

Its weird that I have not even fully played DS1 and it hasn't compelled me to return to it and play it through, but nonetheless I really want to buy DS2.....

Curiosity maybe? Or just plain old FOMO? Lol :p

Yeah , as folk have said it's very similar to the first title and carries a lot of the problems with it. Definitely having love it and hate it moments.

Loved this particular boss design but the combat is slow and clunky at times just like the first. Hard to actually feel like you're in control and not just going through the motions.

Oh well , at least I'm building roads now :)

This is slightly disappointing. I was under the impression they had tightened up the stealth and combat and made it fun to actually get involved in encounters as opposed to simply avoiding it all together.

I just go in guns blazing. Love the slo mo, especially in the rain, cool effect.

Well, best reserve judgement for yourself , good chance I'm just ***p at it. :)

Well shucks, I'm downloading it now. Between @[timko] and having 10 quid already in my wallet. I've lied to myself and justified the cost at 47 sheets (and still have 10 quid in the wallet).

You should probably complete the first game, it’s very much a sequel.

Really enjoying it so far, like the first. No one does cinematic games like Kojima, except perhaps naughty dog. The music and visuals are amazing.

I completed DS1; really enjoyed it, in spite of the combat aspect. I only ever engaged with the BTs and effectively avoided all interactions with the mules, outside of quest specific missions.

I'll be playing this shortly once the download finishes.

e: This is good! I managed to play for a few hours last night, and wow, it looks utterly gorgeous on the Pro (playing on performance mode). I think the combat is better, though I’m not sure if it’s just my imagination. The slow-mo effect when aiming down the sights is great, but I have no idea what triggers it, maybe it’s activated by a critical hit or a headshot?

I’m looking forward to when the story actually starts.
