Death Stranding

It's the 4gig version, i've tried lowest settings at 720p and get the same thing, even tried locking it to 30fps at 720p and still get FPS drops to the mid 20's with vram usage around 2.5gb and gpu usage of 40%.

Odd that the GPU usage is so low, I would have thought that it would be maxing out given the circumstances. The CPU shouldn't really be there bottleneck here either I don't think, I've seen people playing this with far less at a smooth fps.

Something odd is obviously interfering and messing with the game. I have just read a bit of a weird one, are you using a controller for this? Try removing/disabling it to see if there is any difference, I've seen a few people reporting that this was an issue for them.

Edit:

There's definitely an issue with the controller support through Steam. I just tested myself to see.

Go to:
Steam>Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings

Make sure all the options are unchecked, particular the Xbox Configuration Support as that seems to be an issue.

Mine were all off by default, but enabling these drops me 40-50 FPS in game.

Hopefully that might be your issue

This one is just a 1080p HDR shot but you get the idea, its a fab game with social aspects i have never seen before in a game.

The game does not really start until around mid-way through chapter 3. If you play the first two chapters and think 'wtf?' then stick with it.

This game uses 100% of my 6 cores and 12 threads so I suggest checking cpu usage. It’s insanely core heavy.

On a 9900k at 5ghz, 8 cores, 16 threads, I am reporting approx 56% CPU usage and that is with the frame rate clipped to 100fps maximum at 1080p SDR. I will up it to 4k HDR tomorrow and give it another measurement. 5700XT.

I'm just about to start the third mission. It looks amazing and holds 60fps@4k with my 1080ti with just a few settings tweaked down. I have to say though, now that I'm past the wow factor with visuals I'm hoping the game play picks up as I'm starting to feel like a Deliveroo guy without the moped.

Hang in there :)

I would encourage most to follow the story more than running delivery runs too much early on.

Don't worry you get your delivery bike fairly early in the game.

I bought the game back in November for ps4, great visuals for a console, pc version is a step up and very well optimized, playing at 4k in quality mode 60fps, on a rtx 2060 super using DLSS, very impressed with the 2060 Super for 4k gaming got a great 2nd user price, sold my 2080ti, a few weeks back, ahead of the crowd, for a new RTX 30X0 card.

IF u end up wanting to sell it am after the game mate as would like to get it for my step sons birthday , still kicking myself i losted a bid on one wat sold for £22 i fall to sleep and missed it lol ........

Question for the people who have finish the game----After you have got to the end can u still play about in the world or is it game over ?

If you buy a code for the game, that came with a graphics card, to redeem it, you need to have the correct graphics card installed, or I believe the code will not redeem via the GeForce experience program to your steam account , I think the free game offer is for rtx 2060 and upwards.

All the roads are now complete on my server. That must make the first 1/2 the game super easy. The mountain area is still horrific. I wish there was a way to build roads up there, even if the requirements were steep. Too often the zip lines are incomplete. Thank goodness for the random bikes dotted around.

This gives me so many questions. Is the server you're placed in random and once on a server do you remain on that one only? Do you join a server with new people with nothing complete, or could you get dropped in one with all the roads etc already built? If you dont play for a while, I assume even an undeveloped server could drastically change for when you returned.

I don’t understand it entirely, but it seems similar to instancing. You will also only see the things built that you’ve unlocked yourself. My instance had a partly finished road and lots of equipment everywhere. Over time the road was finished. As far as I can tell I’ve stayed in the same instance. Yes, if you don’t play for a while buildings deteriorate if not maintained. I suspect the roads would be gone in a couple of weeks. Upgrading structures makes them last much longer. If you form a bridge with people your more likely to see their stuff - useful for example when you need both ends of their zip lines!

Are any of you getting a black screen issue? If the third splash icon doesn't show straight after the second then I know I'll need to ctrl-alt-del and try again.

Been 4 attempts this morning and still no joy.

41 hours and I finished the story. The ending is just amazing as it all made sense to me. One of my top rated games of all time easily.

I was wondering the same so thanks for clarifying

Still on the fence about purchasing
