Good SSDs are now significantly faster than traditional hard drives now, (even faster than enterprise 15K SAS drives).
While it's true that an SSD will make many tasks run quicker (Loading games, running antivirus, faster swap file, faster boot), good SSDs are not cheap, and they won't improve your in game frame rate (a new GPU or CPU will), but will cut the time it takes to load the game.
I use a Samsung PB-22J 256G SSD, it is very fast, but as a gamer, I consider it a luxury as opposed to a fast CPU and GPU which I consider essential.
