Im currently looking at a new monitor and very interested in the 120hz range (I mostly game, but with odd desktop work).

What is the max I should spend on an 120hz monitor? 23/24" vs 27".. The usual things people ask :p

The rest of my system is:

I5 2500k @ 4.5ghz.
8GB Corsair 1600mhz RAM
GTX 470
Crucial M4 128GB SSD
Samsung 20.5" Monitor

You're probably thinking 'Oh no, not another one'. Sorry, couldnt help it! :D

It might be worth posting your budget.

I did want to see what people thought about price vs performance on the 120hz range ( I remember seeing MrBios saying that over £500 is a waste with 1920x1080 res. Hell, maybe im just following the hype :p. I could probably spend £400, may be a bit more depending on the reasoning.

Ok, think ive decided on going with 23/24" 120hz monitor. Looking at the prices, It'd need to be under £300. So, anyone who owns one, what do you think of yours? :D

My Asus VG236HE 23 will be later today so i can give you some feedback on that,i was going to go 27" but as im a hardcore bf3 gamer i whent the 120hz way as ive read it will improve gameplay.

I have had the Samsung SA750 27'' 120hz for a few weeks.

It may be over budget but all I can tell you is I still find myself smiling when I load up BF3.
Its is still and absolute joy to load up games and witness the smoothness.

The 2d 120hz is astounding!!

If you can stretch to an Asus VG278 you'll be smiling every time you use it :-)

The extra space is great for non gaming tasks, gord bless ya oh great guru inventor of 120Hz.

Really comes alive with games in both 2/3D.
Am old skewl so my pref is for 2D but the 3D is definetly a worthy distraction for an hour or so blast at BC2 :-)

Try to get to a retailer where you can check a few screen's out, you'll get a feel for whether 27" and any features is for you or not.

That'd be great, thanks. I've been following the 120hz threads for awhile and just trying to make up my mind on what to get for christmas (any excuse to upgrade :p)

Love it mate 23" glossy screen is ok but i think the colours are better than the matt one i had before.
Gaming at 1920x1080 120hz is smooth as butter bf3 feels so much better deffo worth the cash tbh.

Time to step forth from the shadows. Can I ask, what's it like for every day use? Really tempted by this screen!

I own the Benq, you have to set it up right as out of the box the picture is terriable. But, when it's setup it's very good - almost no input lag and 120hz is good, you will need a graphics cards that can handle 120 fps.

I've not suffered with light leakage or dead pixels
