As a Scotsman I would just to like to state that this is not the national dish. I'm getting fed up of being asked about this immediately after discovery of my being Scottish. The deep fried Mars bar was a fad that a few places still do for tourists.

So if you can pass this on that would be lovely!

Thanks for the info.

But are they nice?

I didn't like it when I tried them. I'm not a sweet tooth though, would have preferred battered haggis.

Anyway, isnt the new national dish the Munchy Box with cheese? :p

I think it was about 15-20 years ago that the Deep Fried Mars Bar was invented, I tried a few but they're pretty sick.

Most of us have moved on to Deep Fried Methadone.

I love deep fried mars bars, it's not strictly a northern thing, most of the chippys round here (The dodgey ones who do really bad quality kebabs, chicken and pizza as well) do them.

They aren't as bad as you expect though, are they?
I had one a few years ago, and surprisingly good.

What other novelty deep fried things can you get?

Creme Eggs were popular for a while. Kebabs and Pizzas are de rigueur for your aspiring jakey-about-town these days.
