Deep Space 9 or Babylon 5? There's only one way to find out...FIGHT!

that one where that bald guy on that ship shakes his sons hand and gets put in a time flux thing and his son carries on with his life but keeps seeing his dad in this flux thing and then decideds to ruin his life trying to save his dad.

Great episode.

DS9 was very very good but has to be B5 for the win. Garak is such a brilliant character and one of my favorites from the Sci Fi world, easily up there with the B5 characters.

Some quotes I like from the series:

"We are alike, you and I. We are both as you say "the odd man out" - Londo

"It is a terrible truth but as one accumulates power one loses friends, one only has those who wish to use you and those you wish to use"- Londo

"The scales fell from my eyes and they were open to a universe of majesty and terror that you could never imagine" -Sebastien (Jack the ripper...)

Deep Space Nine, but mainly because I'm a mahoosive Trek fan, took forever to get going though. I also believe Rick Berman held it back creatively as Ira Steven Behr wanted more of the Dominion War and Rick said no (I think but don't quote me on this).

Babylon 5 was also a fantastic show but I sometimes found it a hard sell though I think if it had the same funding and backing as Trek then it would have been epic.

Firefly is great but definitely not in the same league.

As for Battlestar Gallactica and Farscape, let's not go there.

BSG remake >>> Firefly > DS9 > Farscape

Then its a scrap between TNG, Dr. Who (original, not the Russell T Davies CRAP) and a few other things like X-Files.

Never really got into B5 but from what I've heard I'd love it.

Voyager sucks pretty much.

Anyone remember Space Precinct? I used to LOVE that show to pieces when I was a kid, think it only lasted 2 series.

One of my fav DS9 episodes is when Worf fights all the Gemh'dar by himself. (season 4 or 5) Bring it on!!!!!!

DS9 is good-ish up until season 4 when it becomes almost legendary.

Babylon 5 is Godlike....

season 1 = average (but still good and necessary because of plot twists etc)

season 2 - 4 Awesomeness. Some of the best bits from episodes are: Sheridan squaring up to Kosh; Marcus in a fight to the death, any shadow episode.

Unfortunately both series have their crap silly episodes.. e.g. in DS9 the dimensional crossover episodes.

I would say B5 edges it.. thinking about the depth of their characters , makes DS9 seem a bit light in comparison.

B5 all the way!

G'Kar to Lyta Alexander 'Would you prefer to be concious or unconcious during the mating? I would prefer concious but i don't know what your.....pleasure threshold is!'

Londo to Vir 'What do you want you moon faced assasin of joy?'

Garribaldi to Zack Allen about two Drazi Missionaries 'Zack, do me a favour and explain the missionary position to these guys'

I prefer DS9. S6 E13 - Far beyond the stars is amazing, as is Favor the bold and Sacrifice of angels.

Go and watch the DS9 episode Far Beyond the Stars, or In the Pale Moonlight and then come back to this thread and try and say that Babs 5 is better than DS9.

Or go and rent the new Battlestar Galactica and then realise that it goes in this order:

BSG > DS9 > B5.

Time to stir things up and throw this into the mix! :)

Is that SAAB? That was a good series it just ended too quickly to get really developed, plus it was on at silly late times over here.

B5, DS9 was close, but not quite. Shame about the whole cancellation thing though as that didn't do seasons 4 or 5 any favours (though 4 was still very good).

Didn't think much of Firefly. Farscape was OK. Never got into BSG so when I fell across some random episode I didn't 'get' it.

I seem to have gone off TV in general now and sci-fi in particular. Haven't seen any of the current series of Atlantis and haven't seen much of the previous two (or the last SG-1) either. I really ought to try and catch up. :(

I just wiki-ed SAAB as I know next to nothing about it. However after doing that I have noticed a pattern:

Space: Above and Beyond -> Fox Network -> frequent reschedules -> cancellation.
Dark Angel -> Fox Network -> frequent reschedules -> cancellation.
Firefly -> Fox Network -> frequent reschedules -> cancellation.
